Electrical Project Manager with Capital City Electrical
Description
The Electrical Project Manager oversees and coordinates electrical projects from inception to completion. This role involves planning, budgeting, scheduling, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Electrical Project Manager works closely with VP of Service, Sales Team and Estimator for the implementation of the assigned electrical projects. This position requires a high level of personal organizational and personal relationship skills. Supervises all aspects of performance and work stay in compliance with contractors, clients, and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution:
- Supervises Electrical Project Coordinators/Engineers, Electrical Project Foremen, Lead Electrician, and work crews in all activities concerned with electrical works aspects of a construction project.
- Commands respect of foremen, skilled labor and discipline workforce, and develop excellent working relationship with all other department personnel as well as client management.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets for electrical installations and systems.
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with engineers, electricians, and subcontractors to ensure timely project execution.
- Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet deadlines.
- Coordinates with other trades’ Project Managers to ensure the optimum interface of the various operational activities, with the overall object of successful completion of the project.
- Ability to optimize resources (manpower, equipment and materials) to ensure efficient and timely completion of the project.
- Able to lead and motivate staff toward a common goal. Must be an excellent communicator. Able to give instructions and transfer knowledge (written and verbally) in an efficient and effective way at all levels (client, management, supervision, co-workers and staff).
- Must be proficient and able to use current technology and software for the purpose of completion of projects.
- Prepare reports for the executive team; Be able to interpret, explain, and make recommendations for the success of the projects based on report data. Reporting shall include margin forecasting, completion costs, risk mitigation strategies, and any other relevant information.
Technical & Compliance Oversight:
Review electrical designs, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations.
Conduct quality control checks and testing to verify system functionality and safety.
Attends scheduled job progress meetings, coordinates two weeks and one week ahead work plan.
Ensure that all work is in conformity with standards and specifications. Interprets specifications and discusses deviations from specified electrical procedures to ensure full compliance with Capital City Quality Standards.
Comply with the highest level of safety during all stages of project execution to avoid any type of incident or accidents.
Team & Stakeholder Management:
Supervise project teams, including electricians and subcontractors.
Conduct regular meetings to update stakeholders on project progress.
Resolve project-related issues and ensure effective communication between all parties.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
Prepare cost estimates and track expenses to stay within budget.
Manage procurement of electrical materials and equipment.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
Safety & Risk Management:
Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective measures to mitigate hazards.
Foster a culture of safety among project teams.
Qualifications & Skill Sets, Education & Experience:
- 10 years of experience in electrical project management.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and construction practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- PMP certification or Georgia State electrical contractor license (preferred).
Work Environment/Conditions:
- Office and on-site work settings.
- Travel to project locations as required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work depending on project demands.
- Ability to perform duties at extremely varying temperatures, e.g., exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions, on your feet 8 to 10 hours daily up to 6 days a week.
- Job requires employees to wear always required personal tools and belt with them.
- Work from all types of ladders, stepladders up to 14’ “A” frame ladders and all size extension ladders.
- Employee’s personal weight with personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250 lbs., Class 1A-300 lbs.).
- Perform work at various heights up to 60’ ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks or other safe work areas.
- Work in restricted areas, switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics and vaults, following proper procedures.
- Wear personal protective equipment, e.g., hard hats, safety shoes, gloves, masks, and earplugs always, and when applicable.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around project sites for extended periods.
- Walking- Moving about on foot.
- Sitting- Remaining in the normal seated position for extended periods.
- Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting an object (50-150 lbs.) from one level to another (including upward pulling).
- Carrying- Transporting an object, usually holding it in the hands or arm, or on the shoulder, e.g., tools, equipment, and materials up to 100 lbs. up to 400 feet.
- Pushing- Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force (includes slapping, striking, kicking and treadle actions).
- Pulling- Exerting force upon an object so the object moves toward the forces (includes jerking).
- Ascending or descending ladders, lifts, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
- Exposure to construction environments, including high noise levels, dust, and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights if required.
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching or running on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Must have good vision and manual dexterity for inspecting electrical components and reading schematics.
- Work environments may be noisy, congested and/or confined spaces.
Dress Code:
- Office Setting: Business casual (collared shirts, slacks or jeans, closed-toe shoes).
- Field: Wear appropriately fitting shirts with sleeves, long pants and sturdy work shoes or boots. Clothing may not have any derogatory, offensive, sexually suggestion or degrading writing, symbols, pictures, language, or logos of other contractors.
- Employees: May wear jewelry if the jewelry is appropriate and does not constitute a safety hazard.
- Body: Keep hair and facial hair groomed to avoid safety hazards; or they will secure their hair to avoid safety hazards. Piercing other than earrings should not be visible.
- Job Site Visits: Appropriate shirts with sleeves, long pants and safety gear required, including high-visibility vests, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and a hard hat.
- Weather Considerations: Appropriate outdoor clothing for varying conditions (rain gear, insulated jackets, or sun protection as needed).
