Senior Product Development Engineer

Were looking for a Senior Product Development Engineer to lead the charge in scaling our biopolymer resin product development program. The ideal candidate is a strategic, values-driven innovator who thrives at the intersection of science, sustainability, and customer collaboration. They are a seasoned polymer expert with a passion for solving complex challenges and a track record of turning ideas into scalable, real-world solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
Process & Product Development
- Design and scale commercially viable, industrially relevant manufacturing processes.
- Optimize process efficiency, cost, and quality through data-driven experimentation and simplification.
- Collaborate with Sales and Market Development to co-create solutions with strategic customers.
- Translate market needs into innovative biopolymer applications and product extensions.
Innovation & Launch
- Lead full-scale field trials and product launches, serving as the technical expert in customer engagements.
- Develop and implement testing protocols, SOPs, and analytical methods for biopolymer resins.
- Partner with academic institutions to advance material testing and analysis.
Leadership & Strategy
- Model RWDCs Living Values, ensuring all decisions reflect our commitment to our teammates, our mission and our culture.
- Build and mentor a high-performing team of scientists and technicians.
- Contribute to long-term strategic planning and global product portfolio growth.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What it takes to be successful:
- PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in PHA or biopolymer commercialization and/or advanced polymer R&D.
- Deep expertise in polymer converting technologies and analytical chemistry.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence technical decisions.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
