Statesboro, GA 30458 Department Information Within this setting, the Department of Middle Grades and Secondary Education offers programs in initial and advanced educator preparation to prepare effective middle grades, secondary, and ESOL educators. We provide rich and varied learning experiences and embedded practitioner-based opportunities to our students, and we are guided by a commitment to meet the changing needs of an array of communities. Job Summary Reporting to the Middle Grades and Secondary Education department chair, the Assistant Professor in Secondary Science Education requires teaching, research, and service responsibilities. The position is an academic (10 month), tenure-track appointment. Required Qualifications
- Earned doctoral degree in Secondary Science Education, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Science Education, by August 1, 2026.
- Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in science grades 7-12
- Ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the department, college, and university
- Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline.
- Experience teaching secondary education courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level(s)
- Experience in the supervision of pre-service teacher candidates and/or practicum students in field placements
- Experience using technology in instruction, particularly in online and/or hybrid settings
- Established record of a program of research and scholarship focused on issues in secondary science education
- Experience with school-university partnerships
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
