Assistant Project Manager

Job Overview:
MEMCO has partnered with a commercial flooring and tile contractor, and we are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager of construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager will support day-to-day construction operations by helping manage schedules, monitor budgets, maintain documentation, and coordinate communication across field crews, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager in managing project schedules, budgets, and coordination
- Attend internal and external project meetings, take notes, and follow up on action items.
- Maintain and organize project files, documentation, and records, including Change Orders, submittals, and purchase orders.
- Track purchase orders, materials, labor, and subcontractor schedules to ensure timely project progress.
- Monitor project progress and advise the PM of potential budget or schedule issues.
- Ensure subcontractor insurance, certifications, and compliance requirements are current and up to date.
- Support project closeout by compiling photos, documentation, and client references.
- Assist with preparing materials orders and coordinating their delivery to jobsites.
- Support estimating efforts by reviewing project plans, preparing cost estimates, and compiling bid packages.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain clear communication and smooth project execution.
Requirements:
- Construction knowledge or experience preferred, especially in commercial flooring or tile.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Strong collaboration, teamwork, and ethical conduct skills.
- Basic mathematical and mechanical knowledge.
- Thoroughness and accuracy in completing tasks.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to travel or work evenings/weekends as needed.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, or hear; occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift/move up to 10 lbs; occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs.
- Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving machinery, and vibration.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme conditions at construction sites; noise levels can be loud.
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors.
