Job Summary

The Meter System Technician operates and maintains the FlexNet Automated Meter Information (AMI) system for the City of Statesboro. This position works 2,080 hours per year. The annual salary is $43,347.20.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs daily reading and audits of entire water and gas system;
• Installs and activates new AMI smartpoints;
• Performs maintenance of existing water meters and smartpoints;
• Diagnoses and repairs or replaces defective equipment;
• Operates VGB (Vehicle Gateway Base Station) for areas not covered by AMI (Automated Meter Information) System;
• Notifies customers of possible leaks or problems detected during audits of AMI system;
• Maintains records or readings and audits to comply with State of Georgia open records laws;
• Works with City IT Department, and all vendors in order to integrate, maintain, and operate AMI, work order, and GIS systems;
• Completes work orders to turn services on or off;
• Performs meter audits to detect the theft of utility services;
• Takes gas main readings to record consumption and pressure;
• Checks for dead meters on zero consumption report.

Requirements to Perform Work

• High School Diploma or GED;
• One (1) year of experience in a related field;
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
• Valid State of Georgia Driver's License.
