Histology Tech, PRN
Piedmont Rockdale is a 161-bed, acute care, not-for-profit community hospital in Conyers that has provided compassionate, patient-centered care to Rockdale County and surrounding communities since 1954. We offer 24-hour emergency care, plus most major medical, surgical and diagnostic services.
Responsibilities:The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist is responsible for cutting, staining and preparing tissue samples for the pathologist to review. They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.
Qualifications:Education
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
Work Experience
- 1 year Recent graduate from an accredited histology program and/or of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
- 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
Licenses and Certifications
- Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination Required
