Bilingual QC/QA Engineer

Reports to: General Manager Job Summary: We are seeking a highly technical QC Laboratory Manager to lead quality control operations within our CNT (LIB) Division. The successful candidate will take a hands-on approach to laboratory oversight, ensuring all materials and finished products meet required specifications while collaborating closely with Production, R&D, and global teams, including Japanese engineers and leadership. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead laboratory operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Duties/Responsibilities:
•Oversee all QC laboratory operations, ensuring accurate and timely testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished dispersions.
•Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and validation of laboratory equipment to maintain accuracy and reliability of test results.
•Review and approve test results, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and batch release decisions.
•Ensure all laboratory testing is conducted in accordance with approved methods, specifications, and quality standards
.•Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results and lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative measures.
•Perform hands-on laboratory support as needed, including sampling, QC measurements, and verification of customer labeling to maintain quality standards.
•Collaborate closely with Production and QA teams in Japan to support troubleshooting, process improvements, and new product introductions.
•Maintain and improve laboratory SOPs, test methods, and quality documentation to ensure compliance with ISO and IATF 16949 standards.
•Support internal and external audits, including customer audits, ISO, IATF 16949, and supplier audits.
•Using software and excel files, monitor and analyze QC performance metrics, including turnaround time, repeat testing, and non-conformance trends.
•Develop and maintain Excel-based tracking tools and systems to improve QA/QC management and reporting.
•Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on laboratory efficiency, testing accuracy, and process standardization.
•Serve as a key liaison between QC, Production, and global teams to ensure alignment on quality expectations.
•Communicate effectively with Japanese stakeholders, particularly the QA team in Japan, including reporting, data sharing, and alignment on quality standards.
•Provide day-to-day technical guidance and direction to QC laboratory personnel.•Any other duties as required by management. Required Skills/Abilities:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Japanese (fluent required).
• Excellent technical communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data across teams and cultures.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality and data integrity.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills related to chemical and material performance.
• Strong leadership capability in a technical laboratory environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex quality and process issues effectively.
• Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems and laboratory data systems preferred. Especially Excel. Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field required
•Fluency in Japanese (spoken and written) required
