Senior MEP Manager (Sandy Springs)
Senior MEP Manager – Atlanta, GA (Onsite)
We are seeking a highly capable Senior MEP Manager to oversee mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations for a diverse portfolio of large projects. For one of our very established General Contractor clients in the Atlanta, GA area. This role is responsible for leading a team of engineers, driving coordination across all project phases, and ensuring that MEP systems are executed to the highest technical and safety standards. Projects span healthcare, data centers, commercial high-rise, higher education, and other complex environments.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and support a team of MEP engineers.
Establish clear expectations, drive accountability, and maintain a collaborative team environment.
Ensure team members are properly trained, aligned with project goals, and equipped to execute work effectively.
Project Oversight
Manage planning, preconstruction, construction, and closeout activities related to all MEP systems.
Coordinate with project managers, design teams, operations staff, and trade partners to maintain alignment on scope, schedule, and system integration.
Verify that all systems meet applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Track progress, identify risks, and resolve issues to maintain project momentum and quality.
Preconstruction
Support early planning, budgeting, and MEP scope reviews.
Perform constructability and design-to-budget reviews to ensure alignment between design intent and cost controls.
Work with operations teams to develop procurement strategies, schedules, and material planning.
VDC Coordination
Participate in Virtual Design and Construction coordination across all trades.
Attend multidisciplinary meetings to support clash detection and drive design resolution.
Ensure digital models accurately reflect construction needs and field conditions.
External Relationships
Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, engineering firms, and trade partners.
Coordinate design deliverables, resolve technical issues, and support client communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Reinforce expectations regarding quality, schedule adherence, and execution standards.
Technical Expertise & Quality Control
Provide technical guidance for system design, installation, sequencing, troubleshooting, and turnover.
Perform field reviews and quality checks to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Support field teams with resolving technical challenges and maintaining system performance requirements.
Communication & Documentation
Maintain clear communication with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders regarding milestones, budgets, and timelines.
Support documentation and approvals required for inspections, permitting, and certificate-of-occupancy closeout processes.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
Promote a safety-first culture across all teams.
Ensure adherence to safety regulations and best practices during installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Building Construction.
8+ years of experience managing MEP systems for large, complex projects (healthcare, data center, commercial high-rise, higher education).
Strong understanding of MEP system design, installation methods, and troubleshooting.
Demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously and coordinating across diverse teams.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge of relevant codes, industry regulations, and construction standards.
Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage conflict effectively.
