Job Summary
Our client is seeking a results-driven Sales Engineer to join their global sales team. In this remote role (with up to 50% travel), you will combine technical expertise with consultative selling to drive growth, present tailored solutions, and build strong customer relationships. The ideal candidate will be based in Michigan, Illinois, or Indiana and thrive in a dynamic, customer-facing environment
Job Description
Under the leadership (and in collaboration with) the Regional Sales Manager, perform the following duties:
- Identify select markets and customers to promote our protection and fault recording products and solutions
- Develop and grow the customer base in market segments to meet the budget
- Conduct a competitive analysis and determine new business opportunities for market segments
- Develop and execute sales strategies and action plans for market segments
- Work with channel partners to develop and implement a sales strategy
- Develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge of the company's products and solutions for electric power system protection and automation
- Have a good appreciation of competitor products since they could set the base expectations for new customers
- Help customers and create awareness/interest in the company’s products through visits, demonstrations, training courses, and telephone contact
- In collaboration with the Technical Services Group, provide support and resolve customer concerns, provide application notes, white papers, Webex demonstrations, etc.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of successful proposals for the company’s products, services, and systems
- Participate in trade shows and promotional events
- Complete assigned work within the agreed schedule and budget to a high level of quality.
- Assume Project Management role on assigned projects
Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in power protection sales, with established utility contacts in the Eastern region
- Experience with protective relays and digital fault recorders
- Strong technical aptitude to explain complex relay and recorder functionality and their application within utility/power grid systems
- Electrical Engineering degree preferred
- Prior experience with consulting or engineering firms in the power industry is a plus
Skills Required
- Minimum 3-5 years working knowledge of electric power systems and practices
- Strong knowledge of the electrical power industry, customer base, and channel in the assigned region
- Excellent technical training, speaking, and writing skills
- Attention to detail, self-starter, proactive, ability to learn, good interpersonal skills, and results-oriented
- Strong communicator: must be able to communicate effectively at all business levels, including customer management
- Very strong computer and business software skills
- Multi-tasking and time management are essential
Education/Training/Certifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry-related work experiences
Additional Requirements
- Able to pass a background check and drug test
- Work Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Pay Rate/Salary
- $90K - $125K annually. Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors
