Job Purpose

Responsible for ensuring the security, safety and well-being of all patients, visitors and staff at a GHMS facility. Also responsible for greeting guests at a GHMS facility, being friendly, approachable and willing to help. Maintains strong visibility and exhibits integrity and professionalism in demeanor. Performs a number of specific responsibilities including participation in risk assessments, delivering bank deposits and serving as a mail and equipment courier between locations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Patrols the interiors and exteriors of facilities to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows and gates; checks and reports irregularities in safety issues, policy compliance, parking concerns, and other issues that affect security at GHMS.
• Circulates and associates with patients, visitors and employees on a regular basis to provide assistance when needed and, by knowing the people and regular routines, helps preserve order and protect property.
• Remains observant and alert for suspicious persons or activities that may be a breach in security or cause personal or property damage.
• Develops relationships with local EMS, law enforcement and other community partners to increase awareness of GHMS and its security concerns.
• Monitors surveillance equipment to assist in ensuring the safety and security of the facility.
• Performs periodic checks of emergency call boxes, street lights, surveillance equipment, fire extinguisher and other security and life safety equipment to ensure proper checks and functioning.
• Serve as a courier for mail and equipment between GHMS facilities.
• Participates in GHMS’ Risk Management activities by observing and reporting irregularities such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; he or she helps investigate disturbances and completes incident reports.
• Prepares routine, standardized reports of activities.
• Responsible for securing the Cumming facilities after closing, ensuring that all entrances are locked and alarms set.
• At closing, responsible for dropping the Night Cash Deposits at designated bank locations.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Georgia Driver’s license with a clean driving record
• At least one-year experience in Security, Law Enforcement or Military is required.
• Must have computer skills and aptitude, specifically those associated with Microsoft Office
