SME – Computer Systems Engineer/Architect (Azure VDI)

Position Summary

Client seeks a qualified SME – Computer Systems Engineer/Architect for our Atlanta, GA location. This role requires an Azure Engineer expert with strong technical and functional skills in Azure VDI infrastructure. The primary responsibility is to develop complex applications using standard approaches and implement innovative methods for simpler systems.

Role Responsibilities

• Design Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) architecture, including host pools and session hosts.

• Develop architecture diagrams and technical standards for VDI solutions.

• Align VDI solutions with organizational cloud strategy and compliance standards.

• Lead deployment and configuration of Azure VDI environments.

• Implement security measures

• Optimize VDI performance and troubleshoot complex issues.

• Automate deployment and maintenance using PowerShell scripts.

• Provide technical leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• US Citizenship is required.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.

Experience

• Typically requires at least ten years of relevant experience without a degree; 4+ years with an undergraduate degree; 3+ years with a graduate degree.

Specific Skills

• 4+ years of experience Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Expertise, Design, deploy, and manage AVD infrastructure (host pools, session hosts, desktop images). Optimize AVD for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

• 4+ years of experience Azure Platform Knowledge, Deep understanding of Azure AD, Networking, Security Center, and governance. Experience with hybrid environments and Windows Server integration.

• 4+ years of experience Virtualization Technologies, Proficiency in Hyper-V and VMware for virtual infrastructure.

• 4+ years of experience Identity & Access Management, Implement and manage Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and conditional access.

• 4+ years of experience Security & Compliance, Apply security best practices, encryption, and compliance frameworks. Implement Zero Trust principles and monitor for vulnerabilities.

• 4+ years of experience Automation & Scripting, Advanced PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration management.

• 4+ years of experience Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting, Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and diagnostic tools for proactive monitoring.

• 3+ years of experience Solution Architecture, Create architecture diagrams, technical standards, and design patterns. Align solutions with organizational goals and cloud governance frameworks.

• 3+ years of experience Integration & Migration, Plan and execute migration strategies for legacy systems to Azure VDI.

• 3+ years of experience creating, managing, and deploying Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and custom GPO templates for virtual environments.

• 3+ years of experience monitoring and enforcing organizational IT security policies and processes, including change management.

• Experience with automation and scripting tools like PowerShell.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Skills

• Familiarity with industry standards, available technologies, and best practices for security and systems.

• Experience installing, testing, evaluating, and integrating various applications and third-party solutions into virtual architecture.

• Experience with AppSense and RES Automation Manager.

• Design, deploy, and manage Azure Virtual Desktop infrastructure, including desktop images, host pools, and session hosts.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to developing technical standards and best practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.

The pay range for this position is $54.00 - $57.00/hr.
