This Opportunity (Job Description)
The Development Manager, Community Engagement, is a fundraising role responsible for generating and growing community-organized fundraising revenue throughout South Georgia. This position plays a critical role in expanding CURE’s presence in the community while building a sustainable pipeline of community-driven fundraising opportunities that generate meaningful revenue to support CURE’s mission.
This role is accountable for meeting and exceeding established annual fundraising revenue goals by developing and expanding community-organized fundraising initiatives across South Georgia. Success in this role requires a proactive, relationship-driven professional with a strong sales mindset who is comfortable identifying opportunities, cultivating partnerships, and converting those relationships into revenue-generating fundraising activity.
This position requires strong organizational skills, initiative, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple projects while delivering an exceptional experience for community partners and volunteers.
Your Impact (Responsibilities)
Community Engagement & Third-Party Events
Own and grow community-organized fundraising across South Georgia, with accountability for achieving and exceeding annual revenue goals.
- Serve as the lead relationship manager for third-party fundraising efforts, building a strong and sustainable network of community partners
- Develop and execute a strategic approach to expand the scale, reach, and impact of community-driven fundraising initiatives
- Identify, cultivate, and secure new opportunities with businesses, civic organizations, schools, and individuals, building a robust pipeline of future revenue
- Strengthen and steward partner relationships to drive ongoing engagement, repeat fundraising, and deeper connection to CURE’s work
- Equip and support event hosts with the tools, guidance, and partnership needed to maximize fundraising success
- Monitor performance against revenue goals, using data and insights to refine strategy and ensure consistent growth
- Represent CURE in the community, building visibility, credibility, and new pathways for engagement
- Lead Savannah-based activations for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, including key partnerships and local engagement efforts
Community Relationship Development
Expand CURE’s visibility and influence across South Georgia by building strategic relationships that open doors to new partnerships and deeper community connections.
- Build and expand relationships with businesses, schools, civic organizations, and community leaders to strengthen CURE’s presence across South Georgia. Represent CURE in the community by actively participating in networking groups, business associations, and organizations, such as the Savannah Chamber of Commerce.
- Identify and engage new community networks and audiences to broaden awareness of CURE’s work and mission
- Partner with the Vice President to support strategic outreach efforts, including appearances and presentations in priority markets across South Georgia and the coastal region. Support donor engagement efforts by assisting the Development Manager with targeted outreach and stewardship initiatives, including annual mailings
Leadership Council Support
Support and strengthen engagement with the Savannah Leadership Council to expand community connections and fundraising opportunities.
• Partner with the Vice President and Development Manager to maintain strong relationships with Savannah Leadership Council members
• Assist in identifying opportunities for Leadership Council members to connect CURE with potential partners and community groups
• Help plan and execute quarterly meetings for the Community Engagement Committee of the Savannah Leadership Council
CURE Crew Support
Support and strengthen engagement with the CURE Crew Teen Council to expand school-based partnerships and community involvement.
• Support CURE Crew Teen Council with third-party fundraising efforts, including school and September partnerships
Event and Program Support
• Assist the South Georgia team with event-related activities as needed
• Support outreach efforts that strengthen relationships with community partners, volunteers, and supporters
• Ensure accurate documentation of community engagement activities and fundraising outcomes
Volunteer Coordination
- Serve as primary relationship manager for South Georgia volunteers
- Coordinate volunteer efforts for events, third-party events, volunteer appreciation week, and share opportunities throughout the year
What You’ll Bring (Skills and Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree preferred with 2–3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, sales, community engagement, or partnership development, with a track record of generating revenue.
Revenue Generation Mindset: Demonstrated ability to drive fundraising or sales results by proactively identifying opportunities, building partnerships, and converting relationships into revenue-generating initiatives.
Strong ability to cultivate relationships with businesses, community leaders, volunteers, and donors.
Communication & Presentation:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently represent CURE through presentations, meetings, and community outreach.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and organization.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments while also working independently to achieve goals.
Motivated to operate autonomously, proactively seeking opportunities and driving projects forward with energy and accountability.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $55,000–$65,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
