Training Manager
DP World Contract Logistics delivers tailored, scalable and progressive solutions to customers in more than 100 global locations. The company has managed supply chain synergies for global automotive and technology premier brands for more than 60 years.
We are looking for an experienced Training Manager , based in Union City. The Training Manager leads the design, development, and delivery of learning programs that strengthen employee skills, support organizational goals, and improve overall performance. This role is ideal for someone who loves building people up, creating engaging learning experiences, and driving continuous improvement across teams.
About the Role
Responsible for establishing, governing, and executing a comprehensive training and competency framework that enables both new site launches and steady-state operations to achieve and sustain operational excellence. This role may be site-based or traveling/launch-focused, depending on business need, and ensures consistent application of DP World’s training standards across locations.
The position owns the end-to-end development, standardization, and delivery of training—covering process documentation, instructional design, systems readiness, and trainer capability—to ensure operational processes are effectively taught, embedded, and transitioned to local teams once required competence is demonstrated.
Through robust standards, role-based curricula, and a scalable Train-the-Trainer (TTT) model, the Training & Standards Manager ensures audit-ready compliance, high adoption of systems and processes, and long-term site sustainability. The role links training effectiveness to operational KPIs to ensure each site is equipped to operate independently beyond launch or stabilization.
Key Responsibilities
1) Training Standards & Governance
- Own and govern the Training & Launch Standards framework, including role-based competencies, certification requirements, documentation standards, and evaluation cadence aligned to DP World’s launch blueprint and operational model.
- Establish and maintain a Train-the-Trainer (TWI/TTT) methodology grounded in adult learning principles (andragogy) to scale internal capability and ensure consistency across sites.
- Apply ADDIE and ISO principles to curriculum and material development (SOPs, SWIs, job aids, visual standards, simulations, microlearning).
- Identify operational training needs through job task analysis, performance data, audits, and regular consultation with Operations, Quality, Safety, and HR.
- Partners with site leadership and functional leads to ensure training aligns with operational requirements and business objectives.
2) Process Documentation & Enablement
- Lead development and maintenance of SOPs, work instructions, and job aids for launch and steady-state operations, ensuring clarity, version control, visual management, and exception handling.
- Build and maintain role-based training matrices for direct and indirect labor, ensuring audit-ready documentation of competency and certification.
3) Training Delivery & Trainer Excellence
- Deliver training directly (classroom, on-the-job, and systems-based) and/or oversee delivery through certified site trainers.
- Recruit, certify, coach, and evaluate trainers; conduct TTT bootcamps and facilitation practicums.
- Monitor trainee progress and training effectiveness through assessments, observations, manager feedback, and performance outcomes.
- Evaluate training impact by linking learning outcomes to operational metrics (safety, quality, productivity, SLA adherence).
4) Systems & WMS Readiness
- Coordinate and deliver systems/WMS training (receiving, putaway, picking, sequencing, inventory control, reporting, etc.).
- Embed UAT scenarios, simulations, and role-based quick reference guides to drive adoption and data integrity.
- Partner with Operations Launch Managers/Specialists and IT to align system configuration, test cases, and training environments.
5) Launch Support & Transition (as applicable)
- Support site launches through structured training deployment, ramp-up support, and post-launch stabilization.
- Ensure effective transition of training ownership to site leadership once competency and certification requirements are met.
