BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE

Under general supervision, coordinates all career guidance and counseling efforts within the school to ensure students are meeting the expectations of college and career readiness upon graduation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for classroom, group, and individual guidance procedures associated with proper student placement in regard to graduation and beyond.
• Serves as a source of information for the student with respect to the school, home, and community.
• Collects and disseminates to students and parents information concerning school offerings, opportunities for further education, and careers and career training opportunities as appropriate
• Communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, must be excellent
• Assists in facilitating student-teacher-counselor-parent-conferences as needed
• Responsible for delivering accurate and relevant information concerning post-secondary options to students and parents
• Clearly communicates school procedures, guidelines, and district policies to students as well as all other stakeholders
• Supports school principal in implementing change in identified areas
• Defined duties specific to grade levels served as defined by district and school principal
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Holds or Eligible for Valid Georgia Certificate
• Experience of Five Years or Greater in a High School Setting Required
• Previous Evidences of Other Professional Experiences in Education are Preferred
• Ability to Demonstrate Clearly Knowledge and Experience in Building a High School Master Schedule
• Well Versed in the Graduation Requirements for the State of Georgia
• Documented Work Experience or Significant Training in Regards to the Infinite Campus Platform
• Familiarity with Alternative Learning Program Partnerships with Jasper County Charter System
• Collaborates with Teachers, Counselors, and/or Advisors to Assure the Development of Transition Programs for 8th graders to Improve Individual Student and Subgroup High School Transition Success Rates.
• Develops Partnerships with Business and Community Organizations to Support the Goals of District High School Graduation Initiatives
• Strong Organizational and Communication Skills.
