We are seeking an experience Food Products/Raw Meat/Protein processing oriented Operations Manager for our manufacturing/industrial facility in a manager role that leads all packaging activity in a USDA regulated consumer goods facility in the area near Macon/Warner Robins, GA.

This OPERATIONS MANAGER overseeing the Raw Meat Processing efforts at our production facility is responsible for leading all raw meat production operations within a USDA regulated facility, specifically the daily cut, grind, blend, stuffing, and raw material handling processes across all shifts, working to ensure product safety and quality, and compliance with USDA FSIS regulations, HACCP, GMPs, and food safety programs while driving safety, yield performance, throughput, labor efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Other day to day focus-areas include:

  • Raw Meat Operations Teams and Project Leadership
    • Lead all raw processing operations including tempering, grinding, blending, batching, marination, and staging.
    • Ensure staffing, scheduling, and line balancing meet daily production requirements.
    • Monitor yield performance, throughput, labor utilization, and waste levels.
    • Ensure consistent execution of daily production plans and customer order requirements.

  • USDA, HACCP & Food Safety Compliance
    • Ensure 100% compliance with USDA FSIS regulations, HACCP plans, GMPs, SSOPs, and humane handling requirements.
    • Maintain control over CCPs, monitoring documents, raw material traceability, and pre op/post op results.
    • Lead or support USDA interactions, including NRs, food safety findings, and verification activities.
    • Partner with QA to investigate deviations, implement corrective actions, and validate process changes.

  • Process Control & Production Execution
    • Own execution of raw meat processing SOPs and standardized work.
    • Ensure accuracy in formulations, batch weights, grind sizes, temperatures, and process parameters.
    • Drive real time corrective action when process or performance issues occur.

  • USDA and food safety compliance Ensure compliance with USDA FSIS rules, GMPs, SSOPs, and HACCP.
    • Confirm that materials, labels, and finished goods meet regulatory and traceability requirements.
    • Support USDA inspections and corrective actions.
    • Work with QA to maintain packaging quality, seal integrity, label accuracy, and product identity.

  • Maintain SOPs, visual controls, training materials, and handling standards.
    • Ensure ERP accuracy for yields, material movement, and batch reporting.
    • Lead daily meetings, shift handoffs, and problem solving.

The ideally qualified candidate will bring with them the following:

  • EDUCATION : Bachelor's degree in business, Meat Science, Animal Science, Food Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • EXPERIENCE: At least 3 to 5 OR MORE years of raw meat or protein processing experience in a USDA regulated facility (strongly preferred). Additional experience in consumer goods, CPG or food packaging; USDA in a different product space also very useful/applicable
    • Special Consideration will be given to those with expertise in raw meat cutting, grinding, batching, blending, and raw material handling processes.
    • Prior leadership experience managing production teams, ideally in a FOOD PROCESSING/RAW MEAT PROCESSING environment.
  • A strong demonstrated leadership work history, and background leading teams, projects and day to day operations in manufacturing or packaging, again, ideally in a consumer product manufacturing setting.
  • Any previous work history and/or a strong knowledge of USDA, HACCP, GMP, and food safety requirements and regulations is HIGHLY DESIRED.
  • We are seeking ideally a strong background/expertise in packaging operations, materials, and equipment, managing teams, interpreting performance data and KPIs, identifying opportunities for Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • A strong technical proficiency with manufacturing systems including MRP/ERP or MES systems.
  • This is a TEAM LEADER as well, thus we need a strong communicator, a good team motivator/mentor and someone with top notch team leadership tools and abilities.
