Estimating/Purchasing Manager – Residential Wood-Frame Homebuilding
Location: Alpharetta | Full-Time
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Estimating/Purchasing Manager with a proven background in residential wood-frame construction to oversee all procurement, vendor management, and material supply operations for high-quality homebuilding projects.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for sourcing and purchasing building materials, negotiating competitive pricing, managing budgets, and ensuring materials meet project specifications and schedules. The right candidate will have strong vendor relationships, cost-control expertise, and a deep understanding of residential construction methods and materials.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Procurement
- Source, evaluate, and purchase materials, equipment, and services for wood-frame residential construction projects .
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to secure the best value.
- Maintain and expand vendor relationships to support ongoing and upcoming homebuilding projects .
Cost Management & Budgeting
- Create and manage purchasing budgets aligned with construction schedules.
- Monitor and track material costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing quality.
- Work closely with estimators and project managers to ensure alignment between purchasing and budget forecasts.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to job sites to meet construction milestones.
- Coordinate with superintendents and site managers to forecast material needs.
- Proactively address supply chain challenges to prevent delays.
Quality Assurance
- Verify that all materials meet project specifications, building codes, and quality standards.
- Manage resolution of any material defects or discrepancies with suppliers.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate purchasing records including purchase orders, delivery logs, and vendor agreements.
- Utilize construction management software to track procurement activities and vendor performance.
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in residential homebuilding (wood-frame construction required).
- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, industry standards, and market pricing.
- Proven ability to negotiate favorable terms and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction/project management tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma required; degree in Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred.
