Engineered Systems & Services, a consulting engineering firm in Suwanee, GA, is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector for a utilities infrastructure project. Work will focus primarily on construction inspection services for sanitary and/or stormwater sewer repairs. Additional services performed will include relocation of water services. This role will support an upcoming assignment involving on-site inspection services in the Metropolitan Atlanta Area.
Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience inspecting underground infrastructure as described above. Experience with pipe bursting and slip lining, and other underground utilities is a plus.
General Duties
• Construction Inspectors will be required to provide construction observation for facilities under construction to verify that Contractor work practices comply with contract documents. Work may include inspections for underground pipeline installation, grading, compaction, backfill, concrete and masonry.
• Construction Inspectors will be authorized to observe all Work done and all products furnished, including preparation, fabrication, and manufacture of the products to be used. However, the Construction Inspector will not be authorized to alter or waive any requirements of the contract documents
Specific Construction Inspector observation duties shall include:
• Providing technical observation of construction.
• Serving as the Owner's primary field contact for each project's status of construction.
• Observing the work for general compliance with the Contract Documents.
• Submitting a daily written report for construction progress including Contractor's hours on the job site, labor, equipment used, weather conditions, data relative to questions of work change directives, change orders or changed conditions, list of job site visitors, daily activities, decisions, and observations.
• Providing photographs to document work progress.
• Monitoring construction progress against the current accepted schedule and reporting variations weekly.
• Provide weekly updates for the Owner's Construction Manager regarding work completed to-date.
• Verifying quantities and percent complete on requests for monthly and final payments from the Contractor.
• Performing a periodic check on completeness of the Contractor's as-built drawings.
• Attending progress meetings involving Owner and the Contractor to review progress, schedules, coordination of tie-ins, and down times.
• Reviewing outstanding issues, change orders, extra work provisions, and requests for Information (RFIs).
• Confirming interpretation of contract documents and coordinating a response to the Contractor's questions to maintain a timely continuation of construction progress.
• Assisting contractor in obtaining additional details or information from the Owner, when required, for proper execution of the Work.
• Advising the Contractor of Work that the Engineer and/or Owner believes should be corrected or rejected or should be uncovered for observation, or requires special testing, inspection, or approval.
• Accompanying visiting inspectors representing public or other agencies having jurisdiction over the Project, recording the results of these inspections, and reporting to the Engineer.
• Reporting immediately to the Engineer and Owner the occurrence of any accident.
Other qualifications to perform the job shall include:
• Being physically able to perform strenuous physical activity required on the job. This includes, but is not limited to, transporting, setting up, and climbing ladders and wearing safety harnesses, walking over rough terrain, crawling into and under areas that require inspection, and extended periods of walking and standing.
• Being capable of lifting 50 pounds.
• Passing alcohol and drug screening testing.
• Having a valid driver’s license
• Being a US citizen or permanent legal resident.
• Passing OSHA 10-hour training and testing or showing evidence of current certification.
Education and Experience Requirements
• Minimum of high school diploma or GED. A certificate or diploma from a technical college or school or an associate's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management and/or construction inspection.
• Inspections experience for projects involving water, wastewater and stormwater pipelines.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
