The Superior Court of Fulton County Georgia (“Court”) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Services Coordinator II.
Superior Court is Georgia's busiest trial court of general jurisdiction. The Court seeks to provide a forum in which legal disputes between citizens can be resolved in a fair and efficient process with attention to equal access, impartiality, efficiency, and safety. After joining the Court, you will become part of a fast-paced team dedicated to providing the citizens of Fulton County with the service they deserve.
Job Summary:
Conducts assessments and coordinates resources and services to meet the needs of clients. Responsibilities include interviewing and assessing the psychological, social, housing, psychosocial, and physical needs of clients; conducting outreach activities; and linking clients with community resources.
Completes home assessments and interviews. Conducts thorough assessments on individuals currently providing a home or wishing to provide a home for an OCA client; examines safety/home environment, sleeping arrangements/furnishings, medical and mental health, substance abuse history; obtains child protective services screening, sex offender registry, criminal records check, and photographs; interviews child to assess their feelings regarding placement or potential placement; explores potential issues that may prevent or disrupt placement; and evaluates safety concerns or obvious signs of abuse or neglect.
Prepares written reports and obtains collateral information for Child's Attorney and the Court. Provides information to assist the Court in arriving at a decision that is in the best interests of the child. Obtains and submits photographs, educational records, medical/mental health records, criminal records/probation records, etc.
Provides expert testimony in court hearings regarding child welfare, abuse, and neglect. Determines the nature of client needs and identifies community resources appropriate to meet the need and provide the most appropriate referral.
Prepares and maintains client data files ensuring that file contents and case documentation meet established ethical and legal standards. Provides ongoing assessment of clients’ needs and reviews progress towards achieving objectives. Provides counseling service to clients, their families and/or caregivers; and provides crisis intervention immediately if needed.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.Receives and reviews various documentation, including referrals; academic records, health records, mental health evaluations, social service request forms, court orders, reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including client intake forms, statistical reports, mileage reports, and requisition forms; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; maintains clients’ data files ensuring that file contents and case documentation meet established ethical and legal standards; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Represents department in meetings, hearings, and presentations and serves on committees as required. Qualifications:

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to work with others to coordinate the more complex programs and more complex problems associated with the responsibilities of the job.
Technology: Using spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation, and other software to research legal issues, organize and analyze information, prepare reports, and create and deliver effective presentations.
Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership, and to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to resolve problems.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving broader aspects of organizational programs and operations, moderately unstable situations, or the direction, control and planning of an entire program or set of programs. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position. Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in behavioral science, psychology, social work, sociology, or a related field required; supplemented by three years of experience in conducting needs assessments and coordinating referral services for clients in a social service organization or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Requires a valid Georgia Driver's License.
Physical Requirements:
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, temperature and weather extremes, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, animal/wildlife attacks, violence, disease/bodily fluids, pathogenic substances, or rude/irate individuals.
