Build and protect uptime at HTGP as a Siemens PLC Controls Engineer

MAU is partnering with HTGP to hire a Controls professional in West Point, GA. You’ll spend your days diagnosing complex automation issues, programming Siemens PLCs and HMIs, and guiding safe, efficient production in a modern, largely climate-controlled automotive environment.

A day in the life

  • Start your shift at 6:30 AM ready to review pass-down notes, prioritize work, and align with production on maintenance needs.
  • Jump into complex troubleshooting across PLCs, HMIs, motor controls, and related electrical systems—then document actions taken for the next team.
  • Program, configure, and refine Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal logic to improve functionality and reduce downtime.
  • Interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to support accurate repairs and modifications.
  • Lead the correct application of LOTO and champion OSHA-compliant practices.
  • Coordinate with suppliers/contractors on upgrades and improvements; supervise outside maintenance when needed.
  • Prepare concise reports and presentations on corrective actions and improvements; monitor KPIs like downtime rate, MTBF, and MTTR.
  • Support PM schedules (including weekends or shutdowns) and ensure PM Work Orders are closed on time.

What you’ll own

  • Policy & Compliance: Model HTGP policies, procedures, and core values; uphold certification standards including IATF16949 and ISO 45001.
  • EHS: Follow safety policies and 5S standards; help the team meet or exceed safety goals.
  • Technical Excellence: Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, program, and improve control systems; implement downtime-based countermeasures; assist plant electricians/technicians with second-level troubleshooting; collaborate cross-functionally to maintain continuous production flow.
  • Leadership: Keep clear, timely documentation; mentor teammates; coordinate multi-department activities; supervise contractors on maintenance or equipment modifications.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Regular overtime required
  • Rotating shift schedule

Required background

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Working knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and OSHA machine regulations
  • Hands-on machine operation and programming systems experience

Preferred background

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience in a related field
  • Tier-1 automotive manufacturing experience
  • Cross-cultural work experience

Technical toolkit

  • Advanced knowledge of Siemens Step 7 and Siemens TIA Portal
  • Proven ability to program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and motor controls
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP, and VAATZ
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; self-directed work style
  • Ability to lead others in LOTO procedures and safety practices

Working conditions

  • Primarily climate-controlled manufacturing areas
  • May work different shifts; support some weekends/holidays
  • May require domestic or international travel
