Designer Level II
:
A Level 2 Designer works independently on projects of increasing complexity. He/ she can provide guidance and mentor Level 1 Designers. A Level 2 Designer has developed a comprehensive knowledge of Herman Miller products and ancillary lines and is capable of developing client focus and communication skills.
· Works with Dealer Sales team to establish a client's Design requirements and set goals for the project
· Develop furniture block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specifications, and installation drawings
· Create drawings and renderings to communicate a Design solution in an effective manner
· Perform field measures, product inventory, and on-site assessments to ensure accurate drawings and specifications
· Ensure space planning for furniture is code compliant
· Attends client meetings with salespeople to cultivate relationships and obtain planning information
· Manages changes and revisions as required
· Fosters relationships with internal and external clients, understands a client's business issues
· Works independently, displays high performance work ethic, interested in self-improvement, and mentors Level 1 designers
· Presents ideas effectively, listens well to others, is receptive to constructive feedback. Learn how to transition from specifier to consultant. Develop and display increased confidence with client interactions
· Identifies problems, offers creative solutions and alternatives, works independently to execute next steps
· Manages a variety of responsibilities in an efficient manner, demonstrates time management skills
· Able to determine timeframes for deliverables, successful in meeting project deadlines, seeks assistance for workload management (when required)
· Works independently with clients/ A&D to translate needs into a floor plan, proficient using planning guides, initiates creative ideas for alternate solutions, drawing review by Design Management recommended (but not required)
· Applies drawing and documentation standards to more complex projects, applies electronic file naming conventions, updates project records
· Creates specifications for clients using AutoCAD, CAP, CET Designer, proficient in gathering information from vendors, proficiency of price books and creating blended product solutions, able to specify COM
· Experienced in Herman Miller furniture system and seating vocabulary, familiar with ancillary lines and fabric vendors, able to push the boundaries of standard product application
· Performs Design process, utilities resources, able to track Design time
· Participates in all Dealer training programs, participates in all Herman Miller training programs (where applicable)
· Completion of Living Office Placemaking Intensive course
· Bachelor's degree from accredited (4) year university, architectural, or interior design school
· Minimum 3+ years industry experience required
· Participation in professional organization encouraged (but not required)
· Proficient in AUTOCAD
· Responsible for the development, coordination, and ongoing maintenance of corporate standards related to ancillary vendor partners and resource libraries.
· Is experienced in all ancillary lines and fabric vendors, able to recommend product application to best meet a variety of project budgets.
· Responsible for assisting Sales, Project Management, and Design team members so that a very high level of customer satisfaction is achieved during all client interactions.
