At Prince Avenue Baptist Church, the Preschool Ministry, averaging over 200 children per week, exists to shelter and shepherd their youngest children while creating a Jesus-focused, safe, nurturing, and joy-filled environment. Their vision is to see preschoolers learn to love Christ through Scripture, worship, and intentional care, while at the same time giving parents the freedom to engage in worship, study, and service with confidence that their little ones are well cared for.

The Preschool Director plays a key role in leading this mission—casting vision, building and equipping teams of staff and volunteers, and ensuring that every detail of the ministry reflects the excellence and heart of Christ. Additionally, this ministry invests in parents, especially moms, by offering encouragement, training, and support as they raise their children in the faith.

Prince Avenue Baptist Church is a thriving, healthy congregation located in Bogart, GA, a growing suburb of Athens and home to the University of Georgia. With a vibrant Sunday attendance of over 2,600, the church has experienced remarkable growth over the past seven years under the leadership of Pastor Josh Smith. Prince Avenue is a true multi-generational community, enriched by young families moving into the area, college students, and young professionals. In addition, the church campus is home to a covenantal Christian school serving over 900 students from 3K through 12th grade, creating a unique environment where faith, family, and education intersect daily.

About the Opportunity

The Preschool Director is responsible for four key areas of ministry:

1. Preschool Groups
2. Preschool Ministry Administration
3. Mother’s Morning Out
4. General Childcare

Preschool Groups

• Develop and execute a system of weekly worker scheduling
• Recruit, enlist, equip, schedule, and energize workers to make sure all classes are covered before Sunday and Wednesday 
• Research and select transformative age-specific curriculum and train leaders on effectively teaching it
• Ensure all curriculum, resources, teaching aids, and toys are prepared in advance 
• Develop a system and culture of communicating with and ministering directly to parents, particularly moms
• Constantly assess, manage, and execute a system of security
• Manage all Wednesday night preschool needs within program format 

Preschool Ministry Administration

• Manage preschool ministry through Realm, including a seamless and joyful check-in process
• Manage ministry calendaring, class roles, budget, payroll, timecards, and purchase orders 
• Communicate effectively to preschool staff
• Communicate major preschool activities in church-wide contexts
• Maintain supplies and resources

General Childcare

• Approve and manage all preschool childcare requests and needs 
• Ensure usage of secure check-in and pickup strategies 
• Recruit and train lay leaders and volunteers 
• Make the experience safe for kids yet easy for parents 

Mother’s Morning Out

• Oversee the Mother’s Morning Out Director to facilitate shared space, effective programming, and calendar coordination of shared space
• Review the Mother’s Morning Out budget

Requirements:  

• Vibrant faith in and walk with Jesus Christ 
• Membership at Prince Avenue Baptist Church
• Positive personality that is warm with people yet highly organized and purposeful
• Passion for young children
• Desire to help train up each generation of young mothers 
• Boldness to lead, handle conflict, and deal with difficult parents and situations
• Insistence on security as a top priority
• Ability to hire staff and recruit and schedule volunteers
• Ability and willingness to delegate responsibilities to employees and volunteers
• Capable of developing a high degree of respect and confidence from a wide range of individuals
• Consent to a criminal background check and drug screening required 

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Curriculum writing experience and aptitude
• Budgeting and resource management experience
• Experience leading Preschool Ministry in a larger church setting
