PLC VFD Industrial Maintenance Technologist
Join a team where your fixes keep everything moving
Imagine a critical line goes down. You scan the schematics, trace a control circuit, verify a VFD output, and check a misaligned belt. A quick panel test confirms the issue, and your weld repair closes the loop. Production is back online because you know how to bring electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and controls together.
Your mission
- Diagnose equipment issues using both industrial electronics and mechanical principles, then implement repairs to restore operation.
- Perform deep troubleshooting on PLCs, control circuits, and variable frequency AC drives.
- Assemble, test, and install electrical control panels directly from schematic drawings.
- Build and commission automation equipment using engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic systems and components.
- Integrate electrical controls with pneumatic and mechanical systems for reliable performance.
- Support the operation by taking on other duties assigned by management when needed.
- Execute preventive maintenance to keep machines reliable, building systems efficient, and facility condition strong.
- Document all work, repairs, and adjustments in the maintenance work order platform.
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts; verify fluids; replace filters; and complete checklist-driven PM tasks.
- Use the right tool for the job, from hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision instruments and electrical electronic test equipment.
- Install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
- Identify mechanical faults and determine corrective actions using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Plan and stage repair work with diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematics.
- Cut or join metal using cutting torches or welding equipment.
- Assess used parts for dimensional changes using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools.
Your toolkit
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting acumen across disciplines.
- Mechanical troubleshooting experience.
- Understanding of single and three phase power distribution.
- Comfort with 120, 208, 240, and 480 volt systems.
- Motor replacement, repair, and preventive maintenance skills.
- Experience replacing conveyor chains.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics.
- Pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
- Blueprint reading proficiency.
If solving complex problems under time pressure excites you, you will excel in this role and make a visible impact every shift.
