About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Observation Unit (MedSurg) Duration: 17 Weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 48 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - Experience with common titratable and/or set rate drips. - Ability to perform EKGs and draw labs. Description: This is a fast-paced observation unit with high turnover. The unit typically discharges or admits up to 16 patients daily. The staffing ratio is 1:5 or 1:6. Charge nurses occasionally take patient assignments. There are nursing aids available on the unit when possible. The unit is a heavy telemetry unit monitored by central monitoring. There are no vents or respiratory therapy equipment present on the unit. Every other weekend and holiday rotation is required with permanent staff. Floating to medical surgical units may be required. Scrub colors are Caribbean Blue or White, as specified. Charting is performed using MEDITECH. ACLS certification is recommended but not required. Patients are admitted for a variety of medical conditions.
