1st Shift; 6a-6p, 3 days one week and 4 days the next; includes every other weekend

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Testing:

  • Exercise and promote safety
  • Know the required tools for each job (calipers, COD gages, grips, handset, clevises, pins, clips)
  • Inspect area for tools, safety and needed repairs
  • Utilize and operate chiller
  • Work with MTS 793 software
  • Work with TestSuite MPE
  • Read lab traveler, test plan and lab release notes
  • Perform quality checks: specimens correct, graph is correct, test values in range
  • Know the different types of fracture orientations
  • Diagnose interlock errors
  • Check calibration date for COD gages/load cells
  • Measure specimens and record data
  • Check machines
  • Perform crack test and record data
  • Check validity and determine KQ or KIC
  • Understand the lab flow works for SH Test
  • Trouble-shoot issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Certification:

  • Exercise and promote safety
  • Know software for each job (Cert Program, Final Conductivity App, USI Program, Spreadsheets, Cert Viewer)
  • Complete certification pre-check
  • Inspect area for tools, safety issues and need repairs
  • Work with the Certification Program: import data, pull lots, navigate pages, save certs, add notes, and export completed certification
  • Read and understand lab traveler, test plan, and lab release notes: how many tests needed, what tests are required, if conductivity is needed
  • Perform quality checks: PDF Cert is correct, notes on Cert, chemistry on cert
  • Pull up lot number
  • Verify Tensile and other tests that are required have been completed and pass
  • Verify reason if anything shows up red or blue
  • Take proper actions if tests are bad: fill out NCR form, notify Metallurgy, email for press report, email other issues
  • Saver cert after everything shows green
  • Navigate to Cert assembly page
  • Check lab release and add notes that are required on cert
  • Save cert notes
  • Generate PDF cert
  • Export documents to web server
  • Trouble-shoot quality checks and know what to look for
  • Understand lab flow works for Certification
  • Understand the next step for issues (NCR, resample, metallurgy, etc.)
  • Understand the NCR form and how to fill it out
  • Create resamples as needed
  • Ensure quality of certificates and material being certified
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: HS Diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum Experience: None
  • Certifications Required: Crane certification; Forklift certification; Lock-out/Tag-out certification; Pallet jack certification (Obtained during new hire orientation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively listen and communicate ideas and thoughts to others; able to assimilate ideas originated by others
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to carry out and communicate written and/or oral instructions
  • Physical Abilities: Regularly required to stand, walk and use hands; must be able to lift 50 pounds at any time during his/her shift; the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
