Steward Machine is a multi-generation family-owned business having enjoyed a successful history of over 100 years. The Company possesses extensive lifting capacity and some of the largest CNC machinery in the world housed in more than 290,000 square feet of manufacturing space. They offer complete turnkey responsibilities by detailing shop drawings, fabricating, welding, stress relieving, machining, gear cutting and assembly in-house.

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Helper will assist in the fabrication shop completing multiple tasks.

Essential Functions / Duties

· Perform precision grinding operations on metal components

· Read and interpret measuring tape accurately for dimensional verification

· Apply basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations

· Operate overhead and jib cranes (comprehensive training provided)

· Utilize forklift equipment for material handling (experience preferred)

Role / Department / Location Specific Requirements

· Reports to the department lead Zack Hurst

· Position is based at Plant 3 Bainbridge

Job Requirements

· Ability to read and use measuring tape accurately

· Previous grinding experience required

· Overhead crane or jib crane experience preferred but not required

· Forklift operation experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Metal grinding and finishing techniques

· Precision measurement and dimensional verification

· Basic mathematical calculations

· Equipment operation and safety procedures

· Physical stamina for manufacturing environment

· Be able to work in hot and cold environments

Education requirements or equivalent experience:

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent

· Reserved.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl, and smell. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
