Senior Plant Engineer

Georgia-Pacific Gypsum is looking for a contribution-motivated engineer to lead the Plant Engineering Team at their Savannah, Georgia facility. The Plant Engineering Team is dedicated to efficiently delivering high-quality projects to the facility. You will be joining a community of mechanical engineers dedicated to scoping and designing valuable improvements in the production units.

What You Will Do
- The Senior Plant Engineer manages other engineers and multiple small capital improvement projects in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner to improve unit/plant operations.
- Prepares specifications, drawings, bid packages, quotation analyses, and other applicable documents for purchase, construction, and/or repair of refinery equipment and facilities.
- Works closely with other departments to investigate problems, identify, recommend, and execute long-term, reliable, scalable solutions to unit issues.
- Identifies & utilizes in-house resources for technical/engineering support, i.e. process engineering, reliability engineering, inspection, etc.
- Provide engineering support for daily operations.
- Support unit shutdowns and turnarounds.
- Understand business, economic, and operational drivers behind assigned projects.
- Complies with all Georgia-Pacific environmental and safety policies, specs/standards, and Principle-Based Management (PBM) Principles.
- Periodically support the facility after hours when "on call".
- Aids in supporting, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and training within the engineering group to develop and further enhance team-members technical skills.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- 1 - 3 years of experience in engineering mechanical or other industrial sectors.
- Strong technical background with solid troubleshooting/problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office tools i.e. Excel, Word, etc.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Previous experience in a supervisor role.
- Background in manufacturing (industrial plant) maintenance, operations, and/or reliability fields beneficial.
- Project estimating knowledge is a plus.
- Previous internship or co-op experience as a project, plant, or maintenance/reliability engineer.
