Position Summary
Warehouse Shipping Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently loading box and flatbed customer trucks and completing documentation for these orders shipping from the facility with adherence to all company procedures and customer expectations and helping to maintain a showcase facility at all times. Employee is responsible for maintaining compliance with Huber’s Sustainability Management System within his/her sphere of influence. This may or may not include compliance with any air permits, wastewater permits, storm water permits, or other rules as presented to the employee as required.
Hours will be Sunday - Thursday, 10p - 6a
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Load customer box and flatbed trucks with strict adherence to company procedures and customer specifications and expectations. This includes:
- Following safety procedures during the loading process.
- Climb on and off forklift.
- Load pallets according to the required patterns.
- Read and follow all requirements on work order instructions.
- Adhere to cargo securement.
- Accurately update inventory to reflect changes.
- Confirm the correct material is loaded by cross referencing inventory details, labels, lot codes, and work order instructions.
- Completes orders/bill of ladings for shipments using a scanner or virtual terminal and ensures all documentation is correct before shipment is complete.
- Operate the scale house and perform all duties including signing in and out of truck drivers, record truck loading and times on spreadsheets, and scan shipping documents onto the shared drive.
- Assist Logistics/Customer Service/Quality with the proper handling of order fulfillment paperwork (i.e. bill of lading and certificate of analysis to the correct customer and location).
- Assess and document all returned goods and complete any necessary paperwork.
- Maintain warehouse appearance and perform housekeeping duties by cleaning, sweeping, restacking pallets, picking up trash and slip sheets in warehouse and area under and around the silos.
- Perform and document pre-shift inspections on equipment.
- Perform area workplace examinations each shift.
- Operate bobcat, mobile sweeper, water truck, and forklift as needed.
- Work with cross functional teams and be flexible in duties as priorities change.
- Maintain work area and perform housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe condition.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement program.
- Perform other duties as trained and assigned.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required. Technical school a plus.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of plant experience or equivalent preferred.
- Must have basic computer skills to be able to view e-mail, complete required on-line training courses, and utilize electronic systems.
- Microsoft applications experience preferred.
- Willing and able to work and act safe.
- Must be able to react and respond to safety related situations.
- Must be able to perform mathematical calculations including: multiplication, addition,percentages (can be accomplished using a calculator or manually).
- Must have good communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization and be able to communicate using a radio.
- Ability to understand, read, write, and speak the English language.
- Ability to read and comprehend safety policy manuals, SOP’s, SDS, and various production schedules/reports.
Physical Requirements
- Works inside warehouse and outside.
- Exposed to inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, as well as dust/dirt, noise, vibrations, rain, humidity, and muddy conditions for up to 12 hours at a time.
- Routinely lift, push, pull, climb, kneel, squat, twist body.
- Able mount and dismount mobile equipment (i.e. mobile sweeper, forklikft).
- Must be capable of wearing required PPE for entire shift: Hard hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, safety harness/lanyard, gloves, hearing protection etc.
- Must be able to operate equipment at a speed that is prudent for the conditions while maintaining an efficient level of production.
