Position Summary

The Financial Cost Analyst will use various analytical skills to collect, monitor and analyze financial and accounting data. The position requires a great emphasis on details and computer skills (mainly Excel & Access) to help summarize and present findings to management. The financial analyst will be involved to some extent in the month end close, year-end audit and will also drive interdepartmental data analytics around costing

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities

• Makes sure the standard costs loaded in the company's systems are accurate and reflect what was approved in the budget.
• Prepares and analyzes financial, accounting and production data for both the monthly reporting and the preparing of journal entries.
• Maintains existing P&L spreadsheet models for different branches and manufacturing plants.
• Uses analytical tools (queries from different databases) to extract and summarize data.
• Reviews and analyzes cross-functional data for annual standard setting.
• Provides costing and analytical support to various stakeholders.
• Works with different teams on resolving standard cost issues.
• Provides assistance in audit for inquiries regarding costing.
• Ad hoc analysis as requested by the accounting manager and the controller.

Education / Experience:

Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting plus 2 - 3 years of related experience in costing and/or data analytics, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with other functional areas
• Strong attention to details and a drive for quality work
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office especially Excel and Access
• Prior analytical and/or costing experience highly desired
• Prior experience using an ERP system required
• Be vigilant about safety
• Quality - conscious, oriented to excellence
