System Administrator

Akkodis is seeking a System Administrator for a Contract with a client in Atlanta, GA. This role requires a seasoned mainframe DB2 administrator with deep expertise in enterprise‑level system operations.

Rate Range: $49/hour to $64/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

System Administrator job responsibilities include:

• Administer and optimize DB2 on z/OS: install/upgrade, configure subsystems, tune buffer pools, and manage utilities (RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY/RECOVER).

• Ensure reliability and recovery: design and execute backup/recovery, HADR/DR procedures, and implement change windows with minimal downtime.

• Monitor and troubleshoot performance: analyze SQL access paths, indexes, and workload patterns; resolve incidents and root causes across DB2, JCL, and job streams.

• Govern stability through Problem/Change Management: follow ITIL-aligned processes, maintain CMDB/records, and coordinate releases across environments.

• Automate and script operational tasks using REXX, JCL, SQL, SAS/MICS, and create dashboards/reports for capacity, availability, and SLA adherence.

• Collaborate and lead: work with application, platform, and network teams on connectivity and security, enforce standards/compliance, and contribute to project planning and documentation while tracking emerging technologies.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 10+ years of hands‑on experience in mainframe DB2 administration, performance tuning, and enterprise‑level system support.

• Strong proficiency in mainframe concepts, DB2 subsystem management, and scripting using REXX, SQL, JCL, or related tools.

• Solid understanding of Problem/Change Management processes, along with proven ability to manage upgrades, troubleshoot complex issues, and stay current with emerging technologies.

Pay Details: $49.00 to $64.00 per hour
