Steel Mill Equipment Reliability Technician (PLC/Electro‑Mechanical)

CMC - North America
Morrow, GA

Shape the backbone of modern infrastructure

Step into a day where your hands keep critical steelmaking and fabrication equipment humming. As our Steel Mill Equipment Reliability Technician, you’ll start by reviewing work orders in SAP, walk the line to spot issues before they become downtime, and tackle preventive maintenance that keeps production on schedule—rain or shine.

A day in the life

You’ll open, plan, and close work orders in the SAP maintenance module, then head out to calibrate sensors, align drives, and verify safety interlocks. When a fault triggers, you’ll dive into Allen‑Bradley or ABB PLC diagnostics, trace issues across AC/DC motors and VFDs, and restore operations quickly and safely using proper LOTO. Between calls, you’ll fabricate small parts in the shop, interpret schematics to plan repairs, and document time and corrective actions so the team can learn and improve.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Execute preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on production machinery and support systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues; return equipment to service safely and efficiently
  • Use SAP to acquire documentation, record labor and materials, and capture root-cause and corrective actions
  • Fabricate or modify parts using machine shop tools and measurement instruments
  • Follow OEM procedures and operating instructions; maintain supplies and coordinate outside repairs when needed
