Senior Diesel Technician Job Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

Work with the Shop Manager to prioritize equipment and diagnostic needs. Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks, plan repairs.

Conduct and perform all special projects as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.

Education/Experience:

10 years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems.

Knowledge of engine Diagnostic Software, Cummins Insite, Detroit Series, Mack PTT, Full Bay and Peterbilt Davie4 preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Intellectual Demands: The intellectual demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. We work with Detroit dd13, dd15, Cummins X15, Paccar, Volvo and Mack. We provide software and diagnostic equipment.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical demand requirements listed are primarily applied to lifting boxes, truck parts, tools, etc.

Vision - Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right, while eyes are fixed on a given point), Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

Vision requirements listed are primarily applied to working on the computer, driving, and viewing color-coded items.
