Peachtree Orthopedics is proud to offer an Orthopedic Physician Assistant Fellowship Program, consisting of specialty-specific experience for entry-level graduates or experienced physician assistants looking to specialize in orthopedics. Participants will be exposed to all aspects of orthopedic care and gain first-hand experience in our clinics throughout greater Atlanta. This includes:

• Grand rounds
• Journal club
• Taking call
• First assist
• Suturing
• Casting and splinting

Throughout the 12 months, the fellow will rotate within our orthopedic subspecialties including:

• Sports medicine
• Hand, wrist, and upper extremity
• Foot and ankle
• Joint replacement
• Back, neck, and spine
• Pain management

*the position will have a start date of Summer 2026

Location: Multiple offices in the Metro Atlanta area
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm
Job Type: full time

Your Impactful Role

• Obtain patient history and or x-rays.
• Schedule diagnostic studies/surgery and obtain pre-certifications for same.
• Prepare and assist/administer injections/aspirations.
• Obtain specimen for laboratory and complete required forms.
• Application/removal of casts, splints, and braces.
• Perform dressing changes and remove sutures/staples.
• Perform minor office procedures.
• Complete DME charge and/or Physical Therapy referral.
• Complete return to work slips and distribute appropriately.
• Complete applications for Handicap Parking permits.
• Provide patients with educational materials regarding surgery/diagnostic studies or equipment/casts.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards regarding blood borne pathogens.
• Prescribe medications.
• Coordinate work-in appointments.
• Obtain x-ray and diagnostic results from appropriate source.
• Serve as liaison between patient and physician.
• Coordinate consultations with other physicians.
• Order laboratory/diagnostic procedures.
• Establish differential diagnosis and treatment plan.
• Document all records of patient encounters.
• Triage/Provide care in the Emergency Room when assigned.
• Provide call coverage when requested.
• Provide OR assistance when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• May direct the activities of medical assistant in all the above when appropriate and when in keeping with medical assistant's area of expertise.
• See and assess patients, review charts, write progress notes and orders when needed.
• Discuss plan of care with all team members.
• Perform procedures as needed — pull drains, dressing changes, etc.
• Assist with discharge planning.
• Attends meetings and performs related work as required.
• Employees have the responsibility and are expected to adhere to all Peachtree Orthopedic Clinic policies and procedures, to strictly comply with all laws, rules, and regulations, and to consistently engage in ethical patient care and business practices.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Knowledge of professional medical practice to give and evaluate patient care.
• Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
• National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
• American Heart Association's Certification - BLS Certified

The employee may be required to be on their feet much of the day and may need to push, pull, or transport patients on stretchers and in wheelchairs. These duties can be stressful, particularly when dealing with injured individuals. There is potential exposure to anesthetic gases, hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, sharps, and cleaning solutions. The employee frequently is required to move all extremities within a full range of motion, as well as stoop and bend at 90 degrees. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
