Position Overview

Work remotely with students ranging from elementary through high school levels, facilitating clear communication during virtual classroom instruction, meetings, and educational activities. This position offers flexible scheduling within a typical 35-37.5 hour work week, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on student success from the comfort of your home office.

Your role will involve interpreting for approximately 45-55 students across various grade levels, ensuring seamless communication during live virtual sessions, IEP meetings, parent conferences, and specialized educational programming. You'll work closely with teachers, support staff, and families to create an inclusive learning environment.

Core Responsibilities

• Provide accurate ASL interpretation during virtual classroom sessions and educational meetings
• Support students during live online instruction across multiple subject areas
• Facilitate communication during IEP meetings, parent conferences, and team collaborations
• Maintain professional interpreting standards in virtual educational environments
• Document service delivery and communicate effectively with educational teams
• Adapt interpreting techniques for various virtual learning platforms and technologies
• Support students with different communication needs and learning styles

Essential Qualifications

Required:

• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (minimum requirement)
• Minimum 2 years of educational interpreting experience
• Proficiency in American Sign Language and English
• Reliable high-speed internet connection
• Professional webcam and audio equipment for clear virtual interpretation
• Quiet, professional workspace suitable for video conferencing

Preferred:

• EIPA score of 4.0 or higher
• Written EIPA certification
• RID/NIC certification with written examination
• Experience with virtual learning platforms
• Background in educational settings and IEP processes

Technical Requirements

Successful candidates must have access to current technology including a reliable computer, high-quality webcam, professional lighting setup, and stable internet connection capable of supporting multiple simultaneous video streams without interruption.
