Plant Maint Tech III -

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to install, maintain and repair electrical and mechanical equipment used at CCWA water and wastewater facilities, pelletization and dewatering facilities, ground reservoirs, elevated tanks, and water pumping stations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with diagnosing and repairing existing water and wastewater equipment; performs low and high voltage electrical repair; fabricates parts by welding and/or torch cutting metal; repairs gear boxes; rebuilds bearing assemblies; repairs AC and DC drives, drive trains, and motors; and utilizes electrical testing equipment to diagnose electrical problems.
  • Performs the installation of new and re-built water and wastewater equipment; utilizes specialized riggings and lifting equipment.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical problems.
  • Replaces rollers at pelletizing.
  • Pulls and replaces pumps at plants.
  • Assists other personnel as assigned including the acquisition of parts and material.
  • Performs predictive maintenance on water and wastewater equipment.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with Department/Division operations within designated timeframes and per established procedures; maintains and enters labor charged to work orders; and prepares, completes, or reviews other documentation.
  • Cleans water equipment.
  • Operates boom truck.
  • Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments; operates and maintains welding tools, cutting torch, electrical testing equipment, boom truck, ditch diggers, high lift, mechanical lift, lathe, drill press and milling machine, and other tools and equipment.
  • Works on-call as scheduled.
  • Performs other assigned duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus training in industrial mechanics, electronics, or a related field; plus one year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field ; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all CCWA or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must possess and maintain GA Driver’s
  • Within 18 months of employment must obtain and maintain Georgia Water and Wastewater Institute Maintenance Technician Class III certification
  • Within 18 months of employment must obtain and maintain Crane Operator certification/license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as heavy work involving lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. If someone can do heavy work, then he or she can also do medium, light, and sedentary work.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • May fabricate parts as needed.
  • Responds to emergency callouts.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with Department/Division operation, within designated timeframes and per established procedures; maintains and enters labor charged to work orders; reconciles monthly purchase card statement; and prepares, completes, or reviews other documentation.
  • Operates a boom truck and crane.
  • Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments; operates and maintains welding tools, cutting torch, electrical testing equipment, boom truck, ditch diggers, high lift, mechanical lift, lathe, drill press and milling machine, and other tools and equipment.

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment used at CCWA water and wastewater facilities, pelletizing and dewatering facilities, ground reservoirs, elevated tanks, and water pumping stations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures proper operation of water production facilities, water reclamation facilities, water pumping stations, and water intake stations.
  • Makes decisions regarding and performs repairs on existing water and wastewater equipment; performs low and high voltage electrical repair; fabricates parts by welding and/or torch cutting metal; repairs gear boxes, pumps, piping, and screw conveyors; rebuilds bearing assemblies; addresses instrumentation problems; repairs AC and DC drives, drive trains, PLCs, VFDs, and motors; and utilizes electrical testing equipment to diagnose electrical problems including high voltage circuits.
  • Receives work orders; assesses concern; tests equipment for faults; determines path for solutions; and coordinates with plant for possible shutdowns or equipment shutdowns necessary for repairs depending on issue.
  • Performs the installation of new and re-built water and wastewater equipment; utilizes specialized riggings and lifting equipment.
  • Assists other personnel as assigned including the acquisition of parts and materials.
  • Performs predictive maintenance on water and wastewater equipment.
  • Leads and coordinates daily work activities of co-workers as assigned; confers with Chief Maintenance Technician to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; ensures job site safety; assists with complex/problem situations; and provides technical expertise.
  • May weld, fabricate, or rig parts.
  • Tests components to make sure they are working properly.
  • Performs related clerical tasks; responds to emails; contacts outside contractors as needed.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with Department/Division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: maintains and enters labor charged to work orders; reconciles monthly purchase card statement; and prepares, completes, or reviews other documentation.
