Unloading the Retort

1. Obtain Basket Control Sheet from retort operator.
2. When the Retort Operator or Line Leader inform you is safe to open the door, open the unloading door of the indicated retort. Always ensure you open the right retort door.
3. Verify the cooling cycle is completed checking that the green beacon light on the operator panel is On.
4. View water level at sight glass, should be fully drain before the door is open.
5. Disengage manual Lock Pin from door latch,
6. Rotate door to unlock position and open door. Ensure door is fully open.
7. Place unloading bridge, ensuring bridge is seated properly.
8. Start unloading baskets from retort using chain controls.
9. Engage basket chain motor and push out 4 baskets at a time.
10. Verify each basket against the basket Control Record as it’s unloaded for the following: Basket #, Can Quantity, # of Layers, # of Divider Sheets and Color change of heat sensitive tag (Green).
11. Continue with 4 baskets more until retort is completely empty.
12. Return completed Basket Control Record to Retort Operator. Ensure form is completely fill out and initialized.
13. Transfer baskets to tilter, six (6) baskets per cycle.
14. Turn tilter controls to “HAND”.
15. Push hydraulic control lever up to raise tilter.
16. After approximately ten (10) to fifteen (15) minutes, push hydraulic control lever down to return tilter to level.
17. Transfer baskets to Label & Case holding area.

General Tasks

1. Swap the cooling area after every retorts is being unloaded, keep the floor as dry as possible.
2. Half way through the shift and at the end of the shift, clean the tilters pit, remove all the loose cans, dividers, broken wheels, debris and trash.
3. Maintain a clean work area.
4. Keep the Team Leader informed of any deviations or equipment malfunction.
5. Put out of service retorts baskets with broken wheels, informed the Team Leader.
6. Perform any other duties as directed.
7. Comply with company policies and safety requirements.

B. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent

2. Minimum 1 year Manufacturing experience

3. Able to read, write and speak English

4. Able to push both full and empty retort baskets.

Able to work any shift including overtime and/or weekends.
