LPN Qualifications – Correctional & Long Term Care Nursing

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Licensed Practical Nurse certificate
• Active Tennessee LPN license required
• Valid driver's license
• Minimum 1 year of LPN experience (correctional healthcare or long term care experience preferred)
• Ability to pass fingerprinting and background clearance

LPN Responsibilities – Correctional Healthcare Jobs

• Carry out physician orders and assist with medical examinations and treatments
• Conduct pill call and sick call, dispense medication, and document per policy
• Manage medical supplies, syringes, and equipment
• Perform emergency nursing procedures as needed
• Document and report activities in accordance with healthcare policies
• Support supervisor in evaluating medical services and maintaining security of medical records
• Monitor and record resident behavior; inspect medical unit for contraband
• Prepare and maintain healthcare reports, logs, and records
• Communicate effectively with administration, staff, residents, and visitors
• Promote a safe working environment for patients and staff
• Escort or coordinate movement of residents for medical treatment
• Respond to incidents and emergencies, and participate in investigations as directed
