TRCTalent is working alongside a leading manufacturer in the wire and cable industry as they look for two controls engineers on long-term consulting roles.
Role Overview
The Controls Engineer II plays a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems for wire and cable manufacturing processes. This position focuses on continuous improvement, process optimization, quality assurance, and seamless integration of data across platforms to enable smart decision-making and future-ready operations. The role also supports OT networking integration to connect plant-floor control systems with broader operational infrastructure in a secure, reliable, and scalable manner. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to apply emerging technologies and maintain high standards of safety, reliability, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and support process control initiatives for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, identifying and implementing control system enhancements that boost efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Optimize process controls through data analysis, ensuring consistent product quality and operational reliability.
• Integrate data from various sources to enable predictive analytics, real-time monitoring, automation, and informed decision-making across production lines.
• Apply AI and machine learning techniques to automate, refine, and advance manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with cross functional support teams, plant engineering, IT, and production teams to support the adoption of advanced process controls and digital transformation efforts.
• Demonstrates expertise in conceptualizing and designing original systems within prescribed budgets, while consistently producing accurate project estimates and schedules.
• Utilize advanced expertise in electrical systems, Siemens TIA Portal and Step7 programming, and Rockwell RSLogix 5000 programming to support and enhance manufacturing operations, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of industrial machine control systems and electronics.
• Lead and support OT network modernization and migration initiatives across manufacturing environments, including the transition of legacy control system infrastructure to scalable, secure, and standardized industrial network architectures.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with 5+ years of directly related experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD for control system design.
• Advanced knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal, Step7, and Rockwell RSLogix 5000 programming environments.
• Strong understanding of industrial machine control systems, electronics, and safety standards.
• Exceptional organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
