Critical Systems Technician II - Battery
Join a dedicated team in Atlanta, GA as a Critical Systems Technician II - Battery, supporting the reliability and performance of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems for critical facilities. Responsibilities
- Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
- Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of battery systems with minimal customer disruption.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures (MOPs) and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Interact effectively with internal teams and external customers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment as required.
- Assist with tasks in other service divisions, such as Switch Gear, Operations, and HVAC, as needed.
- Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete assignments.
- Learn and perform tasks such as disconnecting and connecting sealed batteries, building battery racks, and installing flooded cell batteries.
- Collect and enter test data and maintenance information using a laptop computer.
- Gain experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on DC battery systems with increasing independence.
- Assist in warehouse operations as required.
- Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
- Travel approximately 30% or more to customer sites as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Experience or ability to learn the use of digital multimeters, amp clamps, and battery testing equipment.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn proper use of isolation devices, Arc-Flash suits, and PPE.
- Ability to connect battery strings in series, parallel, and series-parallel configurations.
- Familiarity with torque values, torque-mark application, and visual inspection of battery installations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to travel approximately 30% or more.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
