Auto Piant and Body Mechanic
- Damage Assessment: Inspect vehicles to determine the extent of damage and recommend repair strategies
- Structural Repairs: Straighten frames, align wheels, and repair or replace body panels, bumpers, fenders, doors, and windows
- Metalwork & Welding: Perform welding, metal cutting, and frame straightening to restore structural integrity
- Painting & Finishing: Prepare surfaces by sanding, priming, and masking; mix and apply paint to match original color; apply clear coats and wax
- Detailing & Refinishing: Fill dents and cavities with body filler, grind and sand for smooth surfaces, and reassemble vehicle components
- Accessory & Interior Work: Remove and reinstall upholstery, trim, and accessories as needed
- Quality Control: Inspect all work for defects, ensuring repairs meet factory and dealership standards
- Safety & Compliance: Follow OSHA, EPA, and other regulations for hazardous materials handling and waste disposal
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, welding equipment, paint sprayers, and body shop machinery
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, mechanics, and body repair techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and repair manuals.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Understanding of color matching and paint chemistry.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- High school diploma or GED; technical school certificate in automotive technology or body repair preferred.
- 1–4 years of hands-on experience in auto body repair and painting.
- Certification in welding, painting, or automotive technology is a plus.
