Jacobs is seeking a highly-motivated Permit Technician to join our Municipal Services team . Responsibilities will be to manage the front desk, provide customer service and support to architects, engineers, contractors, and the public with general and technical information related to plan review, building inspection, and permit services for construction, development, and project plans as required. This will be a critical position in demonstrating that the client provides excellent customer service.
Our Permit Technicians:
- Assist applicants in the processing of applications and verify contents for completeness and accuracy
- Receive and process plans, assess and collect fees, log plans into permit tracking system and assign permit numbers
- Collect plan review comment letters, forward them for signature to the appropriate individuals, and deliver completed letter to the applicant
- Compile daily cash reports of permit and impact fees; provide data to the billing, accounting and record keeping department
- Review and process Certificate of Occupancy requests; accept and process Contractor Affidavit forms
- Participate in departmental meetings, help identify solutions to current problems and issues
- Maintain current knowledge of permits, code requirements and related City ordinances
- Perform other similar duties as assigned including interim review of other permits including business and alcohol licenses.
- Guarantee and facilitate a seamless a building and land development review process.
- Maintain accurate tracking sheets of active land disturbance permits, building plans and plats
- Assist with Open Records Requests as needed

Here's what you'll need
• College Degree preferred, must have High School Diploma or GED
• Five (5) plus years of customer service experience
• Five (5) plus years of administrative experience
• Basic filing and numbering skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Possess a valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record with no major infractions
Ideally, here’s what you will also have:
• Five (5) years of administrative office experience which includes permitting, customer service or construction related experience
• Four (4) years of building trade work experience
• Construction related experience as a permit technician
• Permit Technician Certification ICC (International Code Council)
• Experience with building permit application, processing, and fee assessment procedures
• Experience with permitting software packages
• Proven self-starter, proactive, ability to plan, multitask, prioritize and organize workload
• Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to details
• Ability to perform accurate arithmetic calculations
• Ability to use a computer with speed and accuracy

62,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $62,000.00 to $70,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
