Movement Schools
Atlanta, GA

OUR MISSION

Movement Schools is a growing network of free, public charter schools. We exist to love and value scholars and communities by leading a movement of excellence in education. In partnership with our families, we equip our scholars with the tools to close generational gaps through self-efficacy, access to world-class instruction, and financial education.

About This Role

Champion Access. Strengthen Support. Help Every Scholar Thrive.

We are seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative, and scholar-centered Exceptional Children’s (EC) Coordinator to lead special education services at the school level. This role ensures that scholars with disabilities receive high-quality, compliant, and inclusive services that support both academic success and personal growth.

As EC Coordinator, you will partner closely with school leaders, teachers, service providers, and families to implement effective programming, maintain compliance, and build staff capacity to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

If you are passionate about equity, inclusion, and systems that support exceptional learners—and you enjoy both instructional leadership and compliance work—we invite you to apply.

What You’ll Do

You’ll lead and support special education systems that ensure access, compliance, and scholar success.

As an Exceptional Children’s Coordinator, you will:

  • Coordinate and oversee special education services in accordance with IDEA and state regulations

  • Ensure timely development, implementation, and monitoring of IEPs and related documentation

  • Support inclusive practices and appropriate service delivery models for scholars with disabilities

  • Coach and support teachers and service providers in implementing IEPs with fidelity

  • Monitor scholar progress and use data to inform instructional and service decisions

  • Partner with families to build strong, collaborative relationships

  • Collaborate with school leadership to support scheduling, staffing, and service delivery

  • Serve as a liaison with district and state agencies as needed

  • Support compliance audits, reporting, and recordkeeping

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who brings both expertise and empathy to your work.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Believe every scholar deserves access to high-quality instruction and support

  • Have strong knowledge of special education law, compliance, and best practices

  • Communicate clearly and build trusting relationships with families and staff

  • Are organized, detail-oriented, and proactive

  • Balance advocacy for scholars with collaboration and systems thinking

  • Remain calm, solution-oriented, and scholar-centered in complex situations

Required Qualifications

Your experience has prepared you to lead special education services with excellence.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field

  • Valid state licensure in Special Education (or eligibility)

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in special education

  • Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and compliance requirements

  • Commitment to Movement Schools’ mission and values

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in leadership or charter environments is a plus.

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field

  • Experience serving as an EC Coordinator, Case Manager, or Special Education Lead

  • Experience in a charter or mission-driven school environment

  • Familiarity with inclusive and co-teaching models

Why You’ll Love Working at Movement

You’ll advocate for scholars while shaping systems that strengthen special education services.

  • Mission-driven work: Advocate for scholars and ensure equitable access to learning

  • Leadership impact: Shape systems that strengthen special education services

  • Collaborative culture: Partner with educators and families united by shared goals

  • Professional growth: Opportunities for leadership development and continued learning

  • Meaningful relationships: Make a lasting difference in the lives of scholars and families

Compensation & Schedule
This full-time role aligns with the academic calendar and provides meaningful growth in a purpose-driven environment.

  • Starting Salary: $70,000 (salary placement based on experience and role alignment)

  • Employment Type: Full-Time

  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package available for eligible employees

  • Schedule: Follows the academic calendar with pre-scheduled summer responsibilities for planning and preparation
