Job Descriptions.

Databricks on Azure: Familiarity with Unity Catalog, Databricks Notebooks, and Jobs.

Banking Data Modeling: Understanding how loans, transactions, and deposits are represented in banking data models.

Data Architecture: 4+ years of experience in data architecture.

Data Engineering / Application Development: 7+ years of experience with a strong emphasis on data.

Python Programming: Solid hands-on experience with Python for data processing and solution development.

Nice-to-Have Skills

Proficiency in SQL

Experience with data streaming platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka, Azure Event Hubs)

Knowledge of data security and cloud-native services (AWS, Azure)

Preferred Background

Experience working in a Large Financial Institution (LFI) or a Consulting environment is highly preferred.

Role Overview

As a Data Architect, you'll be a hands-on contributor and strategic partner in shaping First Horizon's data architecture. You'll define standards, patterns, and designs while collaborating closely with development teams to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end data system design, from concept through delivery.

Produce architecture documentation and maintain the enterprise solution inventory.

Collaborate with business units and SMEs to define and refine data requirements.

Design data structures and interactions that align with business outcomes.

Partner with architects across domains (Applications, Security, Infra, Cloud, DevOps) to ensure cohesive solutions.

Facilitate solution design and emerging tech workshops.

Evaluate and validate third-party/vendor solutions.

Align data architecture with enterprise data strategy and business goals.

Promote shared infrastructure and application roadmaps to reduce costs and improve data flow.

Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code/design reviews as needed.

Qualifications

Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect Expert preferred.

Strong grasp of design patterns, BPMN/UML/ERD modeling, and secure coding practices.

Hands-on experience with Python, Spark, SQL, and modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Hadoop, SQL Server).

Working knowledge of cloud-native services (e.g., API Gateways, Serverless, NoSQL, Key Managers).
