Inside Tech Sales Rep
As an Inside Technical Sales Representative, you will assist customers in obtaining the electrical products and solutions they need efficiently and professionally. This role requires strong technical aptitude to read and interpret electrical diagrams, specifications, and perform material take-offs, along with excellent communication skills to support customers and the outside sales team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and screen all incoming calls, vendor communications, and visitors courteously and efficiently.
- Process purchase orders accurately, ensuring correct part numbers, addresses, special pricing, and timely follow-up with manufacturers on stock and delivery.
- Provide technical support by interpreting electrical diagrams, specifications, and assisting customers in selecting correct products and solutions.
- Perform material take-offs from drawings and specifications to prepare accurate quotes and ensure customer requirements are met.
- Obtain competitive quotes for non-stock items to meet customer needs promptly.
- Cross-reference competitor products to offer equivalent solutions when necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of supplies, product lines, competitor products, and pricing to support customer inquiries effectively.
- Attend product training classes and sales procedure courses as required by management to maintain strong technical and product knowledge.
- Assist in preparing and hosting in-house product training classes for distributors.
- Accompany outside sales personnel on customer visits quarterly to build relationships and strengthen technical knowledge of field applications.
- Support computer applications related to sales operations as needed.
- Maintain a tidy and organized office environment to promote professionalism.
Requirements:
- Experience in inside sales or customer service within the electrical distribution, manufacturing rep, or industrial supply industry (preferred).
- Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams, schematics, and specifications.
- Experience performing take-offs from technical drawings (highly preferred).
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn internal systems quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Team player with a customer-focused mindset.
