Turn Clutter Into Organized, Marketable Online Auctions

Do you enjoy organizing, photography, online selling, antiques, collectibles, thrifting, research, or discovering interesting items?

Caring Transitions is seeking a dependable and highly organized Auction Production Specialist to help prepare household and estate contents for sale through CTBids, our national online auction platform.

This is a hands-on role for someone who notices details, enjoys creating order, and has a strong visual eye. You will help transform rooms filled with household belongings into accurately organized, attractively photographed, and professionally presented online auction lots.

No two projects are alike. One day you may photograph vintage collectibles or designer furniture. Another day you may organize tools in a garage, research maker’s marks, document the condition of an antique, prepare sold merchandise for pickup, or help identify an item that should not be overlooked.

Professional auction or photography experience is helpful, but it is not required. We provide training. More important are your judgment, curiosity, reliability, productivity, and attention to detail.

About Caring Transitions

Caring Transitions helps seniors, families, estate representatives, and other clients manage downsizing, relocation, estate liquidation, and major life transitions.

Our clients often trust us with the contents of a lifetime. We approach every project with compassion, professionalism, organization, and respect for both the client and their belongings.

What You’ll Do

Organize and Create Auction Lots

  • Sort household contents and create logical, marketable groups of items for online auction.
  • Help determine which items should be offered individually and which should be combined into lots.
  • Separate items designated for auction, relocation, family, donation, recycling, or disposal.
  • Maintain accurate lot numbers and keep merchandise, photographs, and listing information properly matched.
  • Organize work areas so projects can move efficiently from room to room.

Stage and Photograph Merchandise

  • Clean and stage items when appropriate so they are presented attractively and honestly.
  • Take clear, well-composed photographs using a smartphone or other approved device.
  • Capture important labels, signatures, maker’s marks, model numbers, measurements, accessories, and condition details.
  • Select useful angles and backgrounds that help online bidders understand what they are buying.
  • Edit or improve listing photographs using approved tools when needed.

Research and Document Items

  • Research brand names, model numbers, materials, history, comparable items, and other useful information.
  • Recognize items that may be vintage, collectible, unusual, or potentially valuable and bring them to the Project Lead’s attention.
  • Record measurements, quantities, condition, identifying details, and known flaws accurately.
  • Help draft clear, engaging, and factually accurate auction titles and descriptions.
  • Use approved technology and AI-assisted tools to improve listing efficiency while checking all information for accuracy.

Support Auction Operations

  • Upload or assist with uploading photographs and item information to approved auction systems.
  • Prepare completed lots for storage, preview, or bidder pickup.
  • Stage sold items by buyer, lot number, or pickup sequence.
  • Help buyers locate and receive their merchandise during auction pickups.
  • Confirm that the correct items are released to the correct buyer.
  • Assist with packing or preparing shippable auction merchandise when assigned.
  • Help leave project areas organized and ready for the client’s next step.

Support the Team

  • Follow project plans, safety procedures, and company standards.
  • Communicate questions, concerns, damage, valuables, and unusual findings promptly.
  • Accept coaching and constructive feedback professionally.
  • Assist with other Caring Transitions projects when business needs require it.

What We’re Looking For

The strongest candidates will be:

  • Exceptionally organized and attentive to detail.
  • Dependable, punctual, honest, and trustworthy.
  • Productive and able to work with an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Curious and interested in learning about household goods, furniture, tools, art, antiques, collectibles, and unusual property.
  • Creative, with a good eye for photography, merchandising, and presentation.
  • Comfortable making routine decisions while knowing when to ask for guidance.
  • Able to follow an established process without losing sight of quality.
  • Self-directed once trained, but also effective as part of a team.
  • Coachable and open to constructive feedback.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, apps, web-based systems, and technology.
  • Respectful of clients from different backgrounds and sensitive to the emotional nature of estate work.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality regarding clients, homes, family circumstances, property, and project information.

Experience in any of the following is helpful but not required:

  • Estate sales or online auctions
  • eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Etsy, resale, or e-commerce

  • Work in occupied and unoccupied homes, garages, basements, sheds, workshops, storage areas, and outdoor spaces.
  • Work in environments that may occasionally be dusty, cluttered, dirty, hot, cold, or without full climate control.
  • Wear company-provided or required protective equipment when appropriate.

We use professional movers or coordinated team lifts for furniture and items that should not be handled by one person.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform essential job duties.

Schedule and Availability

This is a part-time, project-based position with variable hours .

  • Hours are based on client demand, project schedules, employee availability, and the skills required for each assignment.
  • Weekly hours are not guaranteed and may vary significantly.
  • Most work occurs Monday through Friday during daytime hours.
  • Occasional early mornings, later afternoons, Saturdays, or Sundays may be required for auction pickups or special projects.
  • Team members must provide accurate availability and respond promptly to scheduling requests.
  • Shifts may vary in length depending on the project.

This role is best suited for someone who wants meaningful, flexible work and does not require the same number of hours every week.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 16 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Consistently reliable transportation to changing project locations.
  • Dependable smartphone with data access.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality and follow company policies.
  • Willingness to travel throughout our service area and occasionally to nearby communities.

What We Offer

  • Paid, hands-on training.
  • Flexible, project-based scheduling.
  • Work that is active, interesting, and rarely repetitive.
  • Opportunities to learn photography, research, online auctions, merchandising, antiques, collectibles, and estate services.
  • Company-provided branded shirt or apparel.
  • A supportive, locally owned team backed by a nationally recognized brand.
  • Opportunities for increased responsibility and advancement based on performance, reliability, availability, and business needs.

  • Protects potentially valuable property from being overlooked.
  • Works efficiently without sacrificing quality.
  • Keeps physical merchandise and digital records correctly matched.
  • Helps projects stay organized and on schedule.
  • Makes auction pickups easier for the team and buyers.
  • Can eventually be trusted to take responsibility for a room, collection, or defined group of lots with limited supervision.
