Coastal Harbor Health System is comprised of a 145-bed hospital for children and adolescents, providing both short- and long-term inpatient care, and a 50-bed inpatient hospital serving men and women, ages 18 and up. The Teacher is a key member of the Coastal Harbor Team who will plan curriculum and classroom schedule and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students, considering state and school requirements, as well as physical, emotional, and educational levels of development.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized academic programs by performing formal and informal assessments of academic achievement, social-emotional development, and vocational skills according to governmental and organizational guidelines; prepare materials, individualized lesson plans, and activities according to assessment goals
• Demonstrate knowledge of effective instructional techniques by using a wide variety of materials and mediums of delivery; demonstrate knowledge of IEP and treatment planning process by reviewing referral and assessment data to obtain each student’s history, issues, and disabilities
• Manage the classroom to maintain a safe, secure, and effective learning environment by providing a high degree of structure, clear expectations, and consistency; implement expectations and consequences as appropriate for each student as outlined in behavior management plan

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Valid State Teacher’s Certification required
• One year teaching experience preferred
• Hi-Q certification preferred
