MIG Welder

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MIG Welder to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for fusing metals using Metal Inert Gas (GMAW) welding techniques to create high-quality, structural components. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of metal properties, can read complex blueprints with ease, and maintains an uncompromising commitment to workplace safety. You will be expected to manage your own workstation, from initial material prep and machine calibration to final quality grinding and inspection.

salary: $19 - $23 per hour

work hours: 6 AM - 4:30 PM
education: High School

Responsibilities

A MIG welder is responsible for the end-to-end fabrication of metal components, beginning with the interpretation of blueprints and the precise calibration of machine settings—such as voltage and wire feed speed—to match specific material gauges. Beyond the technical execution of maintaining a steady arc and managing heat distortion, the role requires meticulous surface preparation, the use of jigs for alignment, and rigorous post-weld inspections to identify defects like porosity or undercut. Above all, a welder must maintain a safe environment by managing high-pressure shielding gases, ensuring proper ventilation to mitigate toxic fumes, and consistently utilizing specialized PPE to protect against UV radiation and thermal hazards.

The essential functions of this role include:

• working in a smoke free environment
• wearing steel toe shoes
• working in a non-temperature controlled environment
• working up to 6 hrs of overtime per week
