Job Overview

AMCON Facility Solutions focuses on industrial facility maintenance and service work—serving as a maintenance partner for facilities of various sizes and industries. Its offerings are designed to help businesses keep their operations running smoothly by maintaining and repairing core systems that support daily functioning.

The Director of Mechanical Projects provides operational leadership and management for AMCON’s strategic projects. Reporting to the company President, this role ensures facilities solutions projects are executed safely, efficiently, and profitably while maintaining the highest levels of quality and customer satisfaction. The Director supports project teams in achieving operational excellence, developing talent, and delivering consistent, disciplined execution across all phases of work.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership, Management, and Accountability

• Lead and develop project management teams to ensure consistent adherence to company standards, processes, and performance expectations.
• Maintain clear communication, accountability, and coordination between field, estimating, and executive leadership teams.
• Lead after action project review with Project Managers to improve profitability and performance.

Operational Oversight

• Oversee day-to-day project delivery, ensuring alignment with safety, budget, quality, and schedule requirements.
• Monitor job performance, identify risks, and implement proactive solutions with Project Managers.
• Ownership of team gross margin goals.

Process and Systems Management

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of operational systems, project tracking tools, and reporting standards.

• Drive consistency and discipline in project documentation, forecasting, and financial tracking.

Resource Management

• Evaluate staffing needs and allocate project management and field resources to ensure balanced workloads and successful project outcomes.
• Identify future staffing, equipment, and training needs in alignment with departmental growth.

Technical Expertise and Execution

• Provide guidance and support in mechanical system design, constructability, and value engineering.
• Assist in resolving technical challenges to ensure projects meet performance and safety standards.

Safety and Compliance Leadership

• Champion AMCON’s safety-first culture, ensuring all teams follow company, client, and regulatory safety practices.
• Partner with safety leadership to monitor jobsite performance and maintain incident-free operations.

Estimate Review and Handoff

• Review awarded project estimates for accuracy and scope prior to project launch.
• Ensure effective project start to set projects up for success.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in mechanical / industrial construction or facility services, with at least 5 years in senior project or operations leadership.

• Proven ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects with full financial accountability and consistent margin performance.

• Strong operational expertise in project execution, forecasting, estimating review, and risk management in a fast-turn service environment.

• Demonstrated success leading and developing Project Managers and field teams while driving accountability and performance.

• Track record of championing safety, compliance, and disciplined execution across all phases of work.
