CT Technologist- PSMC $15K Sign On Bonus
Job Summary
CT technologist is responsible performing CT scans and procedures. The CT technologist must be able to accurately interpret the physician scanning instructions, start & administer IV contrast media, prepare and perform the scans according to establish protocols.The technologist must be knowledgeable about the radiation exposure to the patient and make technical changes according to body habitus, age and ALARA principle. The technologist provides direct patient care to all ages of patients. The technologist is provide very good customer service; that is to treat every patient with respect, courtesy, and explain the exam to the patient. The technologist must be able to work together with others providing a positive work environment.
Vocational/Technical Degree in Radiologic Technology Required Work Experience
=> 1 years CT Preferred Licenses and Certifications
CT - Computed Tomography Required
ARRT Radiography Certification Required
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Required Essential Functions
Perform the specialized procedures according to the department protocols.
Identify the patient according to hospital policy.
Ensure that the correct procedure is to performed on the patient either by the patient's medical record or the physician orders.
Set up the procedure room and the isotope for the exam. Explain the procedure to the patient and/or family member.
Perform the exam/procedure according to established protocols.
Ensure the exam is properly labeled.
QA the exam before it is released for interpretation.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly QA procedures on the equipment.
Follow the proper procedures to ensure Radiation Safety and Protection to the staff and patients.
When performing the exam on the patient, only radiate the area of interest.
Shield the patient's gonads region especially children and adults of childbearing age.
Limit repeats exposures to the patients, by ensuring the equipment is set up correctly.
Wear radiation monitoring badges at all times.
Wear protective equipment when in the radiation field (fluoroscopic exams and or holding patients). Protective equipment-Lead aprons and gloves, thyroid shield and leaded glasses.
Stand behind the protective barrier, when not required to be in the radiation field. Limit exposure by limiting exposure time to radiation and increase your distance from the radiation source.
Ensure the safety of others during the exam by having them behind the lead barrier or wear radiation protective equipment during an exposure.
Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion.
Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.
Ensures that documentation is tailored to expected readers / users.
Uses correct terminology.
Conforms to required style and format.
Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.
Understands equipment operation.
Maintains equipment in working order. Troubleshoots equipment problems.
Uses technology to increase productivity. Adapts to new technology
ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS: Collects data in a systematic and ongoing process
Issues are identified and diagnoses are developed based on assessment data.
Prioritizes data collection based on the patient's condition and needs.
Identifies expected outcomes and plan based on diagnoses or issues.
Perform interventional procedure such as biopsies, abscess drainage, & centesis reduction.
Properly identify the side that is to be enter.
Perform a Time-out with all personnel involve with the procedure before the procedure is started.
Perform the exam according to the direction of the radiologist.
Conduct the procedure to sterile procedure.
Scan documents into the Radiology PACS.
QA the images before sending study to the radiologist who perform the exam. Additional Duties
Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains current Knowledge in present areas of responsibility to include any specialty certification requirements (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
