Factory Product Development Coordinator

Position Summary:

Product Development Responsibilities:

• Partner with McGees internal design team to develop innovative eyewear concepts informed by trend analysis, customer insights, and brand strategy.
• Maintain and update product profilers to ensure accuracy and consistency across development stages.
• Manage all communications with domestic and international factories regarding new product details, sample coordination, order placement, quality control, and various project updates.
• Lead the end-to-end development process for optical frames, sunglasses, lenses, and related accessoriesfrom concept through production.
• Support the creation and integration of brand identity elements such as logos, packaging, eyewear cases, and other branded materials.
• Oversee the development of product sketches, CADs, and 3D models, ensuring alignment with manufacturing capabilities and cost targets.
• Work closely with component suppliers and raw material vendors (e.g., acetate producers) to select materials and ensure feasibility for production.
• Coordinate prototyping, product testing, and iterative refinements to improve fit, durability, and design quality based on performance and feedback.
• Ensure all products comply with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and ergonomic requirements.
• Manage the receiving of parts and materials, ensuring accurate inspection, documentation, and integration into the production workflow.
• Maintain clear and efficient workflows for parts intake, traceability, and communication across production, inventory, and quality control teams.
• Utilize the ProdSmart (AutoDesk Fusion Operations) system to set up new products, track production status, and amend processes and operations as needed to support manufacturing efficiency and continuous improvement.

Factory CadCam Responsibilities:

• CAD: Creating 3D models of parts within CAD software, including defining geometry, dimensions, and tolerances.
• CAM: Transferring the CAD model into CAM (MasterCam) software to prepare it for machining.
• Toolpath creation: Defining the precise cutting paths for CNC tools, considering factors like tool selection, feed rates, and depth of cut.
• G-code generation: Generate the numerical control (G-code) instructions that the CNC machine will follow to execute the toolpaths.
• CNC process optimization: Simulate the machining process to identify potential errors and optimize cutting strategies.
• Post-processing: Adapt G-code to the specific CNC machine by applying post-processor settings.
• Set-up sheets creation: Provide detailed instructions for CNC operators, including tooling requirements, work holding fixtures, and machining parameters.
