As an Underwriting Analyst, you'll develop a broad understanding of risk assessment, underwriting, portfolio management and commercial decision-making while supporting underwriting teams across Swiss Re. Working alongside colleagues across underwriting, engineering, claims, pricing, client management, risk and operations, you'll contribute to evaluating risks, developing solutions and supporting sustainable growth. Through exposure to multiple business areas, you'll build the technical, analytical and relationship-management skills needed for a successful long-term career in underwriting. About You:
We are looking for people who:
- Have completed, or are about to complete, a bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline; relevant master's or doctoral degrees may also be considered.
- Have demonstrated academic rigor through course selection and performance; a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 is expected.
- Have no more than three years of professional experience.
- Are intellectually curious about risk, insurance, reinsurance and global business.
- Think analytically, enjoy working with data and are motivated to learn, challenge assumptions and solve complex problems.
- Are energized by collaborating across disciplines, geographies and cultures.
- Have strong interpersonal skills and are comfortable building relationships in a client-facing environment.

The base salary for this role is $70,000. Candidates with advanced degrees may be eligible for a higher base compensation. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only and do not include short-term incentives or other benefits offered.

Team: Corporate Solutions (CorSo) Property Underwriting
Corporate Solutions is the commercial insurance arm of Swiss Re, helping organizations around the world manage complex risks and build resilience. Within Property Underwriting, you'll work with large national and multinational organizations, supporting the assessment and management of risks associated with buildings, manufacturing facilities, supply chains and critical business operations.
Backed by more than 160 years of risk expertise, the team combines underwriting excellence, data-driven insights, innovative technology and alternative risk-transfer solutions to help clients navigate an increasingly complex risk landscapeYou'll gain exposure to risk assessment, broker engagement, portfolio management and underwriting strategy while working alongside experienced underwriters responsible for some of the largest commercial insurance accounts in the market. The team combines underwriting expertise, risk engineering insights and advanced analytics to support sustainable growth and informed risk-taking.
You Will:- Review and analyze client submissions, schedules of values, loss histories and exposure information to develop underwriting insights and recommendations
- Support the evaluation and underwriting of large and complex commercial property risks across a variety of industries
- Assess risk characteristics, portfolio trends and market conditions to support underwriting decisions and business strategy
- Partner with Risk Engineering teams to understand operational risks, loss prevention measures and property exposures
- Support pricing analyses, underwriting recommendations and portfolio management activities
- Participate in broker meetings, client discussions and market-facing activities that contribute to business development and relationship management
- Collaborate with underwriting assistants and operational teams to gain an understanding of end-to-end underwriting processes
- Contribute to projects involving portfolio monitoring, data quality, operational effectiveness and underwriting innovation
- Support initiatives involving AI, analytics and emerging technologies that enhance underwriting insights and decision-making
- Prepare materials for account reviews, underwriting discussions and presentations to senior stakeholders

Team: Property Facultative Underwriting
The Property Facultative team provides tailored reinsurance solutions for individual property risks, working closely with brokers and insurance companies across North America. The team supports some of the largest and most complex property exposures in the market and plays a critical role in helping clients manage risk through customized reinsurance structures.
As part of the team, you'll gain exposure to underwriting analysis, portfolio management, client and broker engagement, transaction execution and Swiss Re's global facultative operating model. Working in a collaborative and highly technical environment, you'll develop the technical, analytical and commercial skills needed for a long-term underwriting career.
You Will:
- Support the underwriting of bundled facultative facility placements by gathering and analyzing underwriting information, preparing pricing and exposure analyses, and assisting in the evaluation of new business opportunities.Assist senior underwriters in assessing risks, preparing quotations, and coordinating internal underwriting approvals.
- Develop an understanding of Swiss Re underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, pricing methodologies, and portfolio management principles.
- Monitor portfolio performance and assist with reporting, audits, quality reviews, and other portfolio management activities.
- Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and ensure information is complete within underwriting and workflow systems.
- Collaborate with underwriting, operations, pricing, risk management, and other internal teams to support the efficient execution of transactions.
- Participate in client meetings, broker discussions, and internal strategy meetings to develop commercial knowledge and relationship management skills.
- Support initiatives to improve underwriting processes, operational efficiency, and data quality.
- Participate in training and development programs designed to build technical underwriting expertise and industry knowledge.
